My trip to Singapore was sudden. And when I was placed in Holiday Inn ,I was to share the room with a colleague. I was not at all happy about it. But when i stepped my foot inti thr room I was Floored. The room was not just comfortable but much more. The hotel provides you an option to choose your pillows or to choose if you want the bed to be made or not. The other best part was the breakfast. I just fellow in the love with the pancakes and the assortment of breads. The only hitch is the MRT is not walkable! But otherwise its a great place to stay.

Stayed for 7 nights at the end of September.
Staff were very helpful & friendly.
Room was on the 24th floor & had an incredible view over the city. Could see Sentosa & the hills of Indonesia in the distance. Even more impressive at night.
Had no problems with location. The river is just across the road at the front, & you can walk either side to Robertson's Quay in about 5/10 minutes & to Clarke Quay in 20 minutes. Lovely walk at night.
Had a great Italian meal at Da Mario Pizzeri at Robertson's Quay & an Indian at Ivory on Clarke Quay.
Both places have an abundance of restaurants & bars.
The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle to Clarke Quay & Orchard Road several times each day.
A large shopping mall, Great World City, is about 10 minutes walk.
Also went to Vivo City, a huge mall & entertainment complex. Cost 10 S$ by taxi. Had a fantastic dinner here at White Dog Cafe. Superb ribs & steaks, & views over to Universal Studios on Sentosa. Had a great view of the fireworks.

Connected to the hotel is a small shopping centre with convenience stores.
Taxis were nearly always available or with a short wait at peak times. Found taxi fares to be very reasonable. For example, 5 to 6 S$ to Clarke Quay or Boat Quay. Airport was 25S$.

Our room was very comfortable with a high standard of cleanliness. King size bed.
Mini bar & hospitality tray was well stocked.
AC very effective.
Bathroom was totally adequate, plenty of towels, etc, although the fixed shower unit didn't have great pressure.
The breakfast buffet had a wide selection of choices, both hot & cold. A chef was on hand to cook eggs to order.
The hotel has a very impressive atrium, & a nice lounge area on the ground floor where you can get coffee, plus a bar. There is also a Chinese restaurant on the 4th floor, but we didn't try it.
There is also a small business lounge area with 3 PCs that guests can use for free. Useful for checking with airlines.
Nice pool & gym on 6th floor.
Really enjoyed our stay here. The rates were good value, & although as other reviewers have commented, some areas could do with a degree of refurbishment, I do not think it seriously impacts on your stay.
I would stay here again.

Had to stay here for business and it was fine. Had not gone through with the HI renovations at that stage. The TV was the old style. The lift was probably the best feature of the hotel. Buffet breakfast is average.

I travelled with my wife and a 5-year-old son. The experience has been great!

- When we checked in, they assigned me a room with a double bed and a single bed. Perfect for us! I even did not realize they had this sort of room.
- The room was very clean. Although the hotel was old, you can tell they try to make it spotless.
- A lot of choices at the buffet breakfast. Kids eat free. Not sure whether this is their formal policy. But they did not charge my son's breakfast.
- The only downside is there were many girls (professionals) waiting at the lobby in the evening. Good my son was young so I i did not explain all these to him.

We stayed in this hotel for four nights after a cruise.
We were able to check in to our room in the morning which was much appreciated. The room was clean and comfortable but the decor is certainly dated. The non smoking is strictly enforced on these floors.
The hotel lobby is huge and not very interesting, the people are very helpful and we were always able to get a taxi when needed.
We took the breakfast once and it was fine but quite pricey.
We did not find the location convenient for the metro however taxis were very reasonably priced and reliable although there were a few mysterious surcharges. However the location is better than some may lead you to believe. We walked across the road to the river and down along the river to Clarke Quay where there are many restaurants. Walking around Singapore feels very safe and pleasant. We also turned left as you leave the hotel and walked for about 10 minutes and found an excellent shopping centre where there is a Marks and Spencer, British India and Zara etc. Great shopping with far less crowds.
The hotel price was reasonable for Singapore where we found hotel prices to be pretty expensive.

Decided to stay there after reading so many good reviews. And it was great indeed! Stayed there from 28 – 30 June 2010. I emailed the hotel about 3 weeks before, asking direction from the airport because it was my husband and I first visit to Singapore, also asking for non smoking floor and eerr.. rather quiet room because it was our honeymoon destination part one.
Ms Desiree from the hotel replied my email only within 1 hour, explained the route AND gave us complimentary a basket full of fruits and wine. That’s sooo nice.
The check in was fast with the help of Ms Amanda. The room was spacious, I can tell the bathroom was just being renovated recently so it was in a very nice condition. Amenities were complete. There was even an iron and ironing table hidden nicely in the closet. The huge flat TV had abundance channel choices. It even included national TV channels from Indonesia. The pool was huge and there were also a fitness center.
Breakfast was very delightful. The first time I saw egg stasiun in a serious deal, as they have : soft boiled, hard boiled, scrambled, one chef stationed there to make any kind of order you like. Mine was two sunny eggs =) banana muffin and chocolate pastry were delicious, that I snuggled 2 – 3 pieces to the room. Hehe. There were a lot of options : range of cereals, range of fresh juices, sausages, vegetables, etc. The staff assisted us in finding a table and welcomed you nicely.
There was a scheduled shuttle bus (but you have to register your name at concierge and get a ticket) to Orchard. But Singapore is near to everywhere. We almost always took a cab (yeaa.. lazy couples) and spent SGD5 averagely.
