Holiday Inn Atrium, Singapore (Aug 29-Sept 05, 2011)
Holiday Inn Atrium, located in a very nice, quiet neighborhood deserves a 4-star billing, with its comfortable, spacious rooms, luxury styled comfortable lobby, which has a nice bar and inviting lounge area; great amenities such as complimentary business center, free wifi in lobby, gym and pool; friendly and helpful staff; convenient bus stops leading to subway stations and local major attractions.
Yes, out of this hotel, it is quite easy to get around to major attractions by bus, taxi, or on foot. The bus-stops are conveniently located across the street. It takes only about S$1 to get to the famous Ion Orchard/Wheelock Mall, which is a major Subway station, too. Many other attractions such as Chinatown, Marina Bay (Sands Casino Hotel; Esplanada) can be easily accessed by Bus/Subway, or Taxi (~S$8-12 to almost anywhere in town, including various fees beyond the meter; S$22-25 to airport, depending on time of the day). The hotel also provides convenient FREE shuttle (an air conditioned bus) service to/from some major shoppin malls/subway stations.
By the way, the charming Chinatown is only 1.5miles pleasant walk away from the hotel. Less than 1mi from the hotel is the modern "Great World City Mall" with numerous small restaurants, including McDonalds and Starbucks, KFC, as well as a large, neat, clean food court, a grocery store, bakery, and many shops. In the food court, one can witness live cooking class in session through large glass panels of the kitchen....
By the way, it is definitely worthwhile to be a Priority Club Member. As HI Priority Member, we got upgraded to a delux room, which is spacious, well appointed with nice furniture, and an excellent view of the city. Other amenities include free daily newspaper in room; free instant coffee/tea bags and apples in room; free access to business center for members; free apples; 2 for 1 drinks at the bar... Do ask for member upgrade! My wife and I really enjoyed our 7 nights stay in this hotel and highly recommend it.
Note:
Please be aware, however, that at certain time of the year, most hotels in Singapore may charge a resort fee per day. So, prior to booking any hotel, and at hotel check-in, make sure this is clearly understood to avoid any possible surprises at checkout.
