Got a really good deal for this hotel on Expedia. Stayed for 7 nights in a 'Premiere' type room. Room was very nice - decor is very plush. Free minibar, whilst not extensive, is a nice plus. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is fantastic, it's just off Orchard Road and is very close to the Orchard MRT station.
Had breakfast every morning in the restaurant in the lobby, very nice. It's a buffet with a mix of Western and Asian foods. They don't serve any pork products, I assume that's because it is a Muslim-owned hotel.
I would definitely stay here again. There's not a single negative point I can think of, and loads to love about this place.

After an Internet search, we found that the Royal Plaza on Scotts was much lower-priced than any other downtown hotel near to a subway station. We booked through the hotel's website. My wife and I stayed in a standard room for four nights during Christmas shopping season in late November. The Scotts-Orchard intersection is the prime location to view streetside Christmas decorations. During the ten days preceding our stay, we were encouraged by two unsolicited e-mails from the manager welcoming us to the RP. We received a complimentary Herald Tribune. After a returning from walks, we appreciated the complimentary three cans of soft drinks, a juice, and two cans of beer from the minibar which is restocked daily. Guests are invited to inform the maid of the optimum time of day to make up their rooms. Unlike most hotels in Singapore, 24-hour wireless is free in all rooms. The signal strength was low in our room, but downloads were fast. RP claims they are the only 100% no smoking hotel in Singapore, which is a brave commercial move. It was more economical to rent just the room without all-you-can-eat breakfast because the hotel is in the heart of the Scotts-Orchard shopping district, and there are many cafes within a block of the hotel. The closest is the very economical McDonalds McCafe sidewalk cafe (in photo of Scotts Road). There is another McCafe in Shaw Centre serving a more sophisticated breakfast menu of brownies, muffins, and rolls. We found the room of good size, the air conditioning easy to regulate, and the TV was a wide sceeen plasma TV with HBO and Star Movies.

I have stayed at this Hotel on previous visits to Singapore.

This time I arrived fairly late in the evening (11pm) and after the lady on check in tried to put me into a room with single beds it was agreed that it really wasn't my problem if they had given someone else my room and that they would upgrade me to a Superior room. The check in process was actually quite painless and handled well.

The room was great (especially as it was an upgrade), well appointed, very clean and very comfortable.

The Hotel is in great shape and combined with it's location it makes for a great place for a business travel. The free mini-bar, free broadband and breakfast deal is good and makes everything that much easier.

Finally, if you have a later flight out of Singapore ask the Hotel about extending the late check outs. They have always been happy to do it if they aren't fully booked and they only charge around S$20 per extra hour for check outs past 2 or 3 pm - well worth it if you have a long flight ahead.

I booked into the Royal Plaza on Scotts for a long weekend break in November. This hotel is outstanding for the price. The location is excellent and the service is great.

The rooms are sufficient in size and more than comfortable. Mini Bar is complementary and the hotel has free wi-fi for guests.

In terms of cost this hotel is highly competitive for SIngapore. Cannot recommend more highly.

We stayed at the RP from nov. 15 to 18,2007. we chose it because of the nice comments from friends.. Upon arrival at 10am, we were immediately led to our room which was cozy and clean. i was expecting a smaller room for the price we paid, but was unexpectedly delighted when the room was quite big with a king sized bed. breakfast was quite wonderful with lots of choices.the service was fast and efficient (i asked for a band aid and less than 5 minutes, someone was bringing me one!) the internet was free, as was the mini bar which was replenished daily. the hotel was a few meters away from the mtr, shopping was just steps away ( the DFS is just right next door!) and the buffet exceeded our expectation! truly a great hotel and worth every penny!

Stayed for 8 nights on business, great location in downtown Singapore just off Orchard Road and near to a MRT station. Was upgraded to a premium room on arrival. Mini bar free and re stocked daily, beds luxuriously comfortable and great shower. Staff are friendly and efficient. Breakfast is a good buffet choice daily, room service choice isn't particularly good. Overall enjoyed the stay and would recommend the hotel.

Stayed here for a week's business trip. The room was clean, quiet and with excellent bedding. If your primary goal is to get a good night's sleep at a reasonable cost, then this is the place to stay in Singapore.

With coffee & tea making facility, plus the juice in the free mini-bar, room service breakfast is quite a reasonable alternative to the buffet restaurant below. I never ate there during my stay, but used room service for waffles and croissants/toast/muffins at a fraction of the cost.

The hotel's biggest downside is the dreadful entrance - not the nice enough lobby, but the under-construction driveway and curb area outside the front door. They have fenced off the pedestrian walkway that connects easily to the adjacent DFS shopping arcade, meaning that the only way to walk in/out of the hotel is through a driveway that's often jammed with cars, buses and trucks.

For all the traffic at the front door, it's not always easy to get a taxi. On my return to Changi airport, the only vehicle that pulled up in 10 minutes of waiting was an "Airport Taxi" which charged roughly double the regular cab fare. Don't get into anything other than a metered taxi unless you're ready to pay double for your airport trip.
