The location of this hotel is good, being close to a MRT station. As others have said, accessing Orchard Road from the hotel takes a bit of getting used to. The bathroom had tiny ants crawling on the vanity. Apart from that, the room was fine.

The breakfast at the restaurant was fine, although one of the young waiters during our stay either needs glasses or is practising to be a catwalk model. He would wander the room, supposedly looking for cups of coffee or tea that needed refilling. He would walk our way with tea and coffee in hand, and right past our cups that were empty. Not just once, not twice, but three times. It needed the intervention of another staff member for him to come over to give us refills. We should mention that the rest of the restaturant staff were fantastic.

Our room rate included a late check-out. Normal check-out time was 12 noon. On our last day, we went our for lunch before returning to the hotel around 1:30pm to collect our luggage and get a taxi to the airport. We were not able to re-enter our room, as the electronic keycard had apparently expired at noon. I approached the front desk and asked for the keycard to be reprogrammed so that we could get our luggage. Without hesitation, she barked "You were supposed to check out at 12!". I informed her that our rate included a late check-out. She looked at her computer, while another staff member who had overheard took the trouble to actually look at our paperwork before telling the "barker" that "They have a late check-out". Without so much as a "Sorry", the keycard was reprogrammed and handed to me.

Do front desk staff not understand the concepts first and last impressions or word-of-mouth advertising? If you don't like your job, get another. Don't ruin other people's holidays. Thanks to her, that was our first and last stay at Concorde Hotel. If any of our friends take our advice, they will also give Concorde a wide berth.
