Did a staycation with my wife during the Valentine Day period. The reason we chosed the Ritz is that it's my company's corporate hotel and I have been putting up people here so it was to see what's a 6-star hotel experience is. It was interesting that the doorman and the check in staff said that they remember me .. (true or not ? I only been there like 2 - 3 times in the last 2 years to pick up people) We had to upgrade to the higher Marina Bay room as the cheaper rooms were sold out. The view from the room is wonderful. We were at the 18th floor so higher floors would offer even better view. Room is as expected for a 5-star level hotel in Asia. Our company account executive was nice and sent us a bottle of wine and chocolates. Appreciated that. The room was spacious but it felt empty. The bathroom was huge especially and the view from the bath tub was fantastic. Would be nice if there was a small TV at the bath tub - could then soak there for hours ! The toilet was small and cramp however ! Facilities wise the hotel is really bare - not much thing to do. Spas in hotels tend to be over-priced so we gave it a miss. Did I feel a 6-star service ? Not really - I felt that it was similar to what I can get at 4-star and 5-star hotels in Asia.

The only bad things were :

- Our bed didn't look made up well BUT the bed and pillows were so so so comfortable.

- Had a problem with the TV - it's an IP TV so it had issues connecting to the server. Had to call a technician to come in to help turn it on. But some channels we realized had no sound at all. This is more a glitch with the system I believe. Also position of the TV made it difficult to watch from the bed. But since the bed faces the full length window - the view compensated for it.

- Breakfast was ok. It gets hectic when they are full and the staff are overwhelmed. The food was alright. Our breakfast was included in the price but I won't pay the normal price for it. Would prefer to go over to the shopping center then.

- Although we were on the 18th floor, you can hear traffic on the road and there was an afternoon event at The Float and you can hear the music playing. I would assume during night events, it will be louder.

- Check out service at noon was terrible. Too many people checking in and checking out .. not even counters to cater for it. Would have been better if they had a check out counter and check in counter. At the end, I took advantage of the fast check out feature rather than wait.More
