“The 5 star city hotel experience I've had!!”

I'm not one to write long winded reviews... so I'll keep it simple :)
- The best 5 star city hotel I've ever experience, if not the best experience of all luxury hotels I've stayed at (and there's been quite a few). Not a detail was missed.
- Stay in the Garden Wing (pool view if you can afford the extra) if you're going for a holiday, it's just had a major luxury renovation & is stunning! It's also the only Wing with balconies.
- Resort style experience in the middle of the city, it was great to have the option of a luxury day spa & gorgeous resort pool to relax by after some hectic shopping.
- I also saw the Valley Wing, it's beautiful! Not so much for families though, but beautiful attention to detail & very old world (if you like modern decor this is very "grand" so it's probably not for you).
- If you can afford an experience at the day spa "Chi" do it! A gorgeous, holistic approach to relaxation.
- Cocktail hour just adds extra value to the money you're spending.
- Room size is brilliant.
- The international buffet restaurant is worth a look if you're a foodie... so many delicious delights!

I honestly can't say enough good things - so this ended up being a longer post than expected!!

Went there three times already, 2 business trips and one trip with the family during Christmas 2012. The hotel is just perfect, the rooms are great, pool is gorgeous, restaurants are great and breakfast is great as well. Service is top and staff very friendly. Location is good as well, you can easily walk to the big shopping street.

This hotel is divided into 3 separate wings, each of which represents a different offering despite sharing many common facilities (i.e. pool, restaurants, main lobby etc).

We stayed in a Garden Wing room, and also booked a Tower Wing room for our parents so thought we would provide a short comparison. We understand that the Valley Wing is the best experience the hotel has to offer, but cannot comment on this just yet (next trip perhaps...)

In brief, the main differences between the Garden Wing and the Tower Wing are as follows:
- Garden Wing rooms are bigger, have balconies with outdoor seating and have been recently renovated and so they feel brighter, more luxurious and more modern
- They are located close to the pool area so are convenient for families with children wanting to spend time at the pool
- Garden Wing rooms can choose to dine at the Line (the main buffet only restaurant) for breakfast or opt to dine a la carte at the Waterfall, which is the cafe next to the pool. The Line has the bigger and more varied spread, but can be chaos in full swing due to the large number of guests. In contrast, the Waterfall feels more relaxed, more private and altogether more civilised. There is less of a spread, but the quality of food on offer seems to be of a higher standard.
- Garden Wing rooms are offered a Happy Hour between 5-7pm in a sectioned off area of the main lobby. During this time, guests receive unlimited selection of drinks (wines and cocktails) as well as canapés and finger food. This, in and of itself is a great perk, particularly if anyone in your party drinks... I was pleasantly surprised to find the food selection to be varied and interesting and more importantly, the cocktails are freshly made to order and there is no skimping on the measures - I did not have better martinis or negronis anywhere else on our trip and it was a very a genteel way to transition from the afternoon's activities to dinner.

Having said all this, the Tower Wing rooms are excellent, comparatively large vs other similar hotels in the Orchard location and Tower Wing Deluxe rooms have access to their own cocktail / happy hours.

All in all, we were very pleased with our stay and would not hesitate to recommend the Garden Wing for any families with young children.

Service levels were excellent and in keeping with the high standards we have come to expect from Shangri-la.

We the family stay 6 nights occupy 2 rooms at downtown
Shangri-la hotel.
We are totally relaxing,
Good food , good room temperature,
Good lounge service etc...
Worth for money!
When you take breakfast at Waterfall terrence, if you meet
A senior staff name James,
You can experience an excellent
Care for him & always see his
Face smiling no matter how busy
They are.
And the warm service for garden wing reception , specially Janice ,
Even the whole team.

This is my third visit to Singapore, but my first to a Shangri la hotel. We had a horizon club room and we enjoyed the benefits of that, such as afternoon tea and evening cocktails on the top floor of the hotel. Amazing views over Singapore. Well located to the shops at orchard road. Staff very helpful. Breakfast lovely, apart from
One day we were sat at unsuitable tables for breakfast as the hotel was so busy, awkward to eat off very low tables. That was the only complaint though.

The Shangri La Hotel was the venue selected to bring in the New Year 2014 in Singapore.
The buffet dinner and all you can drink is very good value for money and I must say the choice of food available will be hard to beat.
The hotel is very grand and the pool area is fantastic. Service could not be faulted. We were invited to the bar on 24th floor which has stunning views across Singapore. This is were we ended the evening with the new year celebration.
Very nice experience and we will return.

Just returned from my third visit to the Shangri- La hotel on Orange grove rd, Singapore. As usual, impeccable service, hospitality and comfort. Upgrade to a club room to get complimentary afternoon tea 12-5pm every day in the Horizon Club, followed by complimentary cocktails and canapés from 6-8pm! Wonderful leisure facilities, and with Orchard road and the MRT station within an easy walk away, there is really no where better to stay in Singapore! Can't wait to return!

Room Tip: Upgradable to a club room. The rooms facing the pool are slightly smaller, the ones facing the front...
