Nice hotel, with under-cover connectivity to the shopping mall and neighbouring hotels.

I didn't have a chance to try the hotel breakfast, so no comment.
My room was on the 21st floor, it had been renovated recently.
I had colleagues on other floors, in un-renovated rooms.

Bizarre thing: The shower has no door, so you are destined to splash water all over the surrounding floor, weird.
Amenities were fine, super comfortable bath robe.

Wi-fi was included in my package, but I don't think it's usually standard.

Summary - it's an old hotel (it's been renamed a few times), it's had a lick of paint and freshened up, but you can still feel it's slightly dated. With the abundance of hotel choice in Singapore, I personally would go for something more modern next time.

Room Tip: Ask for one which has been renovated recently

If you are looking for shopping mall access, the MRT,a delicious breakfast, a two hour drinks and canapes package, then book an executive floor room at the Fairmont.
We had 3 days stay and enjoyed being able to use the club facilities right up until our flight time in the evening.
This made what is often an arduous day filling in time ,to one of complete enjoyment.
The staff were so friendly and caring, nothing was too much trouble.
This hotel is not new,but the rooms are well maintained and have the most comfortable beds!rainshowers, and every possible convenience.
We would stay again and recommend for being so easy to get around Singapore from.

Room Tip: Take a club room, wonderful array of food and drinks and all day access tea coffee and soft drinks.

We stayed here just before and over new years eve just gone.

We chose it as a hub for family to meet from the Uk and Australia. We didn't quite realise it was spread over two towers and our admittedly late request to all be on the same floor was apparently not able to be honoured.

I did however manage to upgrade one room to a harbour view which was shown to be not available on our initial booking. It was a great view of the fireworks but I was dissapointed that one of our other rooms had a perfactly good view but on asking at the initial upgrade was told that this was not the case. I did feel the upgrade was then an expensive and unrequired option.

The rooms were all spacious, well maintained and the staff were all very polite and helpful.

Its a great location for a first time or veteran (like me) to Singapore. Breakfast was included in our package but I really felt for the poor chef who had to cook eggs and could have done with at least 2 others to help with demand.

The gym was quite large and well filled but the weights room was a little dated - perfectly acceptable for occassional use.

The check out experience was swift and very polite - I was surprised when I got a bill after we left which included 3 nights of upgrade not 2! I did ring and explain the situation and was met by a very polite and subsequently efficient refund - I'm sure this was a simple mistake but not really what I expected from a large operation.

I was also dissapointed with the sounds of building works in the room above during the middle of the night.

Despite my above rant I do think it is a hotel we would return to which says a lot. Overall I repsect a place that can deal with problems both politely and efficiently - hence the score!

You will be hard pushed to beat the location if you want to see the city sites and be over a great shopping mall!

Room Tip: Please check what tower you are in and what facing you have if you want a view!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for the detailed review.

We appreciate your positive remarks on the hotel’s room size, good views and the convenient location. At the same time, we apologise for the other issues you experienced. The new year eve weekend is one of the busiest weekends of the year and as such there are usually more challenges with meeting our guests’ special requests. Nonetheless, we note your feedback and will follow up with the relevant departments to address the issues.

Regarding the noise, it is our standard procedure that all potentially noisy works must crease by early evening. There are at times building works going on in the shopping mall over the night – we will work with its management to minimize any conveniences to our guests.

Your empathy for our chef is also greatly appreciated given that the hospitality industry as a whole, particularly in Singapore, grapples with acute labor shortage.

Once again, thank you for your review and we look forward to your next visit to Fairmont Singapore!

Warm regards,
Brian Tan

We enjoyed our stay at the Fairmont. The hotel feels and looks very luxurious and the staff is professional and very helpful. We made many trips to the concierge desk and the concierge on duty was extremely helpful each time. Our Fairmont Room was very big and the bathroom was nice with plenty of counter space by the sink, which is helpful. Once we were in our room, we couldn't hear our neighbors so there's good insulation. We used the fitness center one day due to all of our excessive eating and we were pleased albeit surprised with all the fitness machines available. We thought there would only be a bunch of cardio machines. We didn't patronize the Ink Bar downstairs or order any room service, so we can't comment on those. We did make a quick trip to the pool. The area is very nice, but the pool isn't heated so it's not too pleasant unless it's really hot outside. There are several tennis courts available, which is nice.

The hotel is in a very convenient location. You're connected to the mall on top of the City Hall and Esplanade MRT stations. This encouraged us to utilize Singapore's public transportation, which was top notch.

One criticism is that you have to pay for wifi in your rooms and in the lobby area of the hotel. It seems to me, if you're paying to stay in a luxury hotel, wifi should be for free. Also, the cost isn't cheap. Not going to break the bank, but it can add up if you're staying for more than a few days, which we were.

However, altogether a very pleasant experience.

As a sidenote, we were picking between the Fairmont, Swisshotel and the Carlton. I can't speak about how it is to stay at Swisshotel or the Carlton, but we went to Swisshotel to catch a shuttle bus to the Singapore Zoo and we were very happy we booked at the Fairmont. Swisshotel's lobby was a disaster area.

Our first trip to Singapore in which we plumped to stick with Fairmont - whom we have stayed with on many occasions throughout the world.
The location was fab, we love to explore cities on foot and found that the Fairmont location was very central.
The hotel was huge - offering all the usual trimmings with the hotels team doing a sterling job , especially house-keeping.

A great foothold for exploring the ultra-modern city yet just a saunter away (that is across the road) from Raffles when you want to enjoy a spot of olde-worlde charm - we recommend the garden bar service and really enjoyed afternoon tea in this iconic building.

Enjoy
