“Signature Classic Room”
Reviewed June 17, 2012

Stayed with family for 5 nights in Signature classic room. Room is spacious , with a nice balcony. Raffles City mall, market place , and the various food options close by is a big advantage. Amazing location. Yes its an expensive hotel . But worth it for the location and service.

The hotel is in a good and central location. However the rooms are a bit dated and the TV connection is fuzzy. I had to contend with poor images on the TV whilst trying to catch the news. Two technicians came but could not rectify the issue. The frontdesk even said that it was the wind affecting the tv antenna.

They changed the room for us but the image was equally bad and eventually they just said that it is like this because it is on a widescreen TV.

We recently stayed at the Fairmont Singapore. I cannot praise this hotel and its staff enough. We were travelling with our 3 young children and from the moment we stepped out of the cab on arrival we wanted for nothing. The attention to detail by the staff is impeccable. The breakfast by the pool at the Alligator Pear, was perfect for us with our children and the staff always came along with special treats for them. The pool and lounges were very comfortable. We had a room on level 22 in the north tower on an executive floor and it provided a fantastic view over the city from the room and balcony. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms quite large. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Singapore.

Had three nights here in a suite on the gold club floors.
We could not fault the hotel. Excellent and courteous staff, great location, well serviced and staffed club lounge. Beautiful, clean and spacious room and a complimentary upgrade thanks to our club membership (thank you Apple!!)
We will definitely return to the Fairmont on our next trip to Singapore, it is probably the most we have ever enjoyed a hotel stay.

Room Tip: Pay the bit extra and stay on the gold club floors, it is genuinely worth it.

Many positives and a few developmental areas which need attention!

The positive.
Wonderfully peaceful and quiet hotel. The heavy doors in the rooms cut out any corridor noise, not that there is ever much noise or activity evident of the housekeeping staff. The corridors are kept clear at all times and the whole hotel is immaculately clean an tidy. Impressive!

The South Tower is better as this tower has been upgraded (albeit some time ago now)!
Wifi is complimentary if you are part of the Fairmont Presidents Club.

Hotel facilities are superb! Many good restaurants with international cuisine.
Part of a comprehensive shopping mall with a great food court.

The state of the art health club, gym, and spa is first class full stop!
Tennis courts are available at a good rate.
Pool area is large and spotlessly clean.

Location is spot on with MRT on the doorstep to get you around all of Singapore.

The world famous Raffles in just across the road if that's your thing!

The negative?
The North Tower bedrooms are well overdue for a makeover!

Room Tip: Try to get a South Tower room overlooking the city as opposed to overlooking Raffles!

I stayed at the Fairmont Singapore for 3 nights on a recent business trip. I have found that Fairmont hotels specifically seem to only update some of their rooms and leave the others in their dated forms (you'll never see these referenced on the website). My room was unfortunately not a remodeled room which had it been clean would have been fine. There were stains on the walls and carpet and one of the pillows on the bed had a foul smell. Additionally the TV didn't work and the internet even when plugged in did not work (nevermind the wi-fi not working). I stayed for 1 night and insisted on a room change as I required working internet for my job. My next room was 100x better, remodeled, working TV and clean, but the damage was done and to be honest - I wouldn't press my luck again staying at a Fairmont as I've had a similar experience at other hotels in their franchise.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a remodeled room otherwise be prepared for a truly awful stay.

As hotels in Singapore become ever more expensive, it's important to choose a hotel that does well what's important to you whilst not paying for what you don't need. For us what's important in Singapore is a good bed, a luxurious but practical bathroom, a spacious and quiet room, access to fresh air, good views, tea and coffee making facilities, free wifi, a room that is always made up when we return and service that is professional and prompt but not effusive. In terms of location, the Bay area is where we want to be - Orchard Road is now just shops, noise and traffic. The wonderful 4km circular walk around Marina Bay is a great antidote to jetlag with its views, food courts and solar powered cooling fans en route and the soon to be opened Gardens by the Bay (end of June). We have stayed at the Stamford, the Pan Pacific and the Ritz Carlton (business trip) and would recommend the Fairmont above all these if you are paying yourself and your requirements are similar to ours. It's simply the best value of this group and with direct pedestrian access to Raffles Centre, City Hall MRT, City Link/Suntech and the Bay, a perfect location - you can get to all of these without going outside into the summer heat if you want to (but ask for directions unless you're good at navigating underground). Minor gripes re the Fairmont are the views are not quite as spectacular as some of the others and the pool and breakfasts not quite as luxurious, but it's also a lot cheaper. You get what you pay for in Singapore and this is a high value package for the personal traveller. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: a high floor reduces the ubiquitous Singapore street noise
