We stayed in the Swissotel The Stamford for 4 nights for business.

The Swissotel Stamford is in a good location for business travellers, however a bit far away from the shops of Orchard Road.

There are two check-in desks, I inadvertantly went to the one near the lifts and was rudely told that it was for air-line crew only and that I had to check-in at the other desk. An air-steward who was waiting behind me said to me "Don't worry, they are always like that here" and showed me where to go to check-in. Check-in took a long time compared to other hotels I have stayed at in Singapore.

The room had a balcony and seemed to have been recently updated. The views were great.

The airconditioning was terrible throughout the hotel. In the room the temperature control did nothing. There did not appear to be airconditioning in the lifts and only minimal airconditioning in the Lobby.

It always took a very long time for a lift, which was strange as there are so many lifts.

The hotel has a great gym, however it was always too busy whenever I went there. The same went for the pool, never a seat available.

We had several requests for our group, each time the staff seemed disinterested and unfriendly.

The room service was incredibly over-priced. You had to pay for internet (it's 2010 !!) again, very expensive.

I would not recommend it to other travellers, it is a very expensive hotel, and the staff there seem to see you as a bother, rather than a guest of their establishment.

As a regular business traveller to Singapore, I can say there are a lot friendlier and more reasonably priced hotels both in Singapore.

I only usually stay in this standard of hotel for business trips, as while on holiday the room is just a place to sleep. As long as it's clean and quiet I am happy to stay in a 2 or 3 star hotel & enjoy for an excellent dinner with the price difference.

My stay at the Swissotel Stamford has changed my mind about this. I really appreciated the size and comfort of the room & bed. The city was buzzing but my room was an oasis of calm.

As my luggage had been lost I appreciated the full range of toiletries provided. I wanted for nothing.

Service was excellent from all staff. I checked out late but the late check out fee was waved.

I agree with the feedback from others that the hotel is struggling to contend with the volume of guests at breakfast and in the lobby. I wanted to take breakfast in the hotel but changed my mind when I saw the queues.

Location is excellent and the views from the top floor are impressive. Access to the night club on the top floor is free for hotel guests. With a visit if staying over a weekend.

Having stayed at Swissotel Merchant Court many times and enjoyed the Singaporean ambience and resort-style pool, we decided to try the Stamford as it has a great location and had been recommended. For us, it was modern and lacked the Singaporean decor found at Merchant Court. But, the worst part of our stay was evident from arrival - mayhem reigned in the lobby - it was 8pm and the lobby was full. The staff on reception were struggling to meet demands - fortunately for us a young man took our booking, rang through and upgraded us as rooms were very short by that time. We don't smoke and it was a smoking room but we were promised it would be deodorised - this did not eventuate and we gagged each time we entered (probably they were just too busy to attend to this). On the positive side it was an upgrade and the room was high up and well appointed. Thank you to the young man who looked after us at reception and we left a note with his name to this regard at the hotel for management on departure.

What left us flabbergasted was breakfast and long queues for each of the main and Asian-style restaurants. It was hard to get a table and although the food was of a very good standard it disappeared so quickly and there were queues to get it. We felt hugely in the minority of Europeans and there were many children pushing to get in front. It was a most unrelaxing way to start the day and have a pleasant leisurely breakfast, which has been our experience previously in Singapore.

On our departure we were told, while waiting in the lobby and unable to get a seat as again it was so overcrowded, by a staff member that it was due to free vouchers being given.. Whether for accommodation, meals or whatever, it made our 3 night prebooked stay at the Stamford much less enjoyable that we had anticipated. Watch our for July free vouchers at this hotel, should it occur again!

When I checked in I was upgraded to a Crest Sutie. Needless to say, it was amazing to be on the 66th floor of this hotel. I have a separate living area, a king size bed, 2 balconies, 3 TVs, 2 DVD players, a coffee maker, Bvlgari toiletries, free breakfast and amazing views. The towels were the plushest I've ever seen. The rooms and linen were spotless. The staff were wonderful (including those unaware that I was in a suite). The pools were big and clean. The breakfast buffet included everything from croissants to curry. The hotel is located in the Raffles Shopping complex and next to the City Hall MRT. Definitley a five star experience.

We arrived at the hotel mid afternoon and as we proceeded to the check-in counter, were greeted by a friendly staff member who directed us to a counter. Unfortunately, this greeter then recognised a guest who was a member of their hotel club, and then asked us to step back to allow the other guest to be served first. The greeter was apologetic, but it was embarrassing for us and the guest who was behind us, and I think entirely unnecessary since there was only a "queue" of 1 (us).

The experience when we did check in was fantastic: the fellow who served us was aware of our request for a new room (the hotel was undergoing a refurbishment). We were given our room keys and directed to a wonderful room on the 47th floor, which although not new (it was a bit tired) was very spacious. We were more than happy with the outcome.

The stay itself was brief (a 2 day stopover on the way home) and would have been otherwise enjoyable if not for an appalling experience trying to print an airline boarding pass. A supervisor (or manager) in the business center wanted us to pay to print out our boarding passes, a very small amount but annoying considering we had already paid for internet access (not cheap at nearly $SG30 per day).

Her unwillingness to be helpful AND directing her juniors there not to be helpful lead to an escalation to the duty manager: he solved the issue in 2 minutes flat, but as it was the last contact point we had with the property, it left a poor impression and spoiled what would otherwise be a positive experience. The petty attitude was delivered with the comment "I am only doing my job", an outrageous way to defend an incredibly poor attitude as her staff knew what needed to be done and were willing to do it.

I find it difficult to recommend the property as a result: it has almost unparalleled convenience, so if you are not there for the service, it has a lot to offer.

Was expecting better service but the amenities in rooms were not in ideal conditions. Had a non functioning fridge and an air con which is unable to adjust temperature.

We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights with family. Its a luxury hotel with beautiful location. We were suprised to know it is connected a shopping mall and an underground metro station.

The staff and service is good. The room has a plush interiors and booth room amenities are good. Each room is well equipped with basic necessities.

Since we are vegeterian, choice of food is restricted and is not kept seperately from non-veg. food. Breakfast has a variety of choices.

I would surely recommend my friends for this hotel.
