We stayed in Stamford for one night; our last night on our 3-week trip in Singapore/Malaysia. We were hoping to get some luxury and speciel treatment in this 5-star hotel. The lobby area was nice and the reception personel were nice and heplful. When we got to our room (a Grand room on the city-side. It was on the 47th floor if I remember correctly) we first noticed the great view over the city. The next thing we noticed was how old-dated the room was. Sure, everything was clean and tidy (and quiet!), but the room looked like it had stayed the same since the 1980s. This was a bit of a disappointment. The other disappointment were the 2 "balconies"; the balconies are less than 1 meter wide. You can just and just fit the chairs on the balconies. And the last disappointment was the fact that none of the rooms have a wifi (how can this be, in a 5-star business hotel?).

Pool area is nothing special: one pool for children and one for adults and one pool bar (not in the pool).

But the view and the location of the hotel are great! I do recommend this hotel to people who can find a good deal on this hotel, who don't need internet, who want to enjoy the great view and want to stay in the city centre.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the city side with a view over the Marina Bay Sands.

Had stayed at the Stamford when I was younger and wanted to bring my own family back here to stay. The location is excellent - the MRT station is very convenient, and you can walk for a long time in the underground malls without needing to go out into the heat. There are so many food choices downstairs - we didn't pay for the hotel breakfast. We had a room on the 27th floor - after reading previous comments I had hoped for a room higher up but we didn't complain and the view from our room was still magnificent.
Only two problems for us - I had hoped for 2 x Queen beds for 2 adults and 2 children, and had requested this prior to our arrival. However we were only given 2 double beds and this was a bit of a problem for us.
Also, the internet connection for the room was VERY expensive. We paid for the convenience of having the internet connection within the room, as we utilise this a lot with children and to have the ability to research our surroundings. The internet connection was great though - I had read in previous comments that it was patchy but we did not find this a problem.
The only other thing I would say is that if you want ice, apparently there are only ice machines on the rooms above the 40th floor - we survived without it though because we didn't want to be calling room service for ice constantly !!!

Room Tip: I would advise asking for a Harbour View room - the view is awesome.

I have been to Swissotel couple of time now and what do i like in this hotel?... EVERYTHING "Best Location" "Best View" "Polite and Helpful Staff" "Night Club for Party people" "Great variety of Food" "Very well Maintained rooms"...... I don’t think someone want anything more than this from any hotel. But don’t judge any hotel with anyone comments but I would highly recommend to try this hotel once and then you can make your own opinion.

Room Tip: please choose room with Hrbour view, they will cost you bit expensive but its worth every penny.

I spent two nights at the Swisotel The Stamford during November. I stay in Singapore quite a lot and try a different hotel each time. This hotel has left me in a bit of a dilemma. You just can't beat the location, great shopping mall downstairs with fantastic food court, City Hall MRT station also beside the hotel, a few steps also to Raffles and many other popular sights and facilities. The problem: the hotel is just too big and you get the feeling the whole place needs a major refurbishment.

My room was spacious but the air conditioning leaked on the carpet and gave the room a very musty smell. I got a pretty good price per night on tripadvisor but as I say in every review, if smaller boutique hotels can provide free wireless internet why can't the big chain hotels? Also breakfast was good but very expensive.

I would recommend the hotel for its location and efficiency. Very Swiss! The pool are is shared with the Fairmont and is very nice. I would recommend having breakfast down by the pool. So, in terms of room and facilities I think the other ingapore Swissotel hotel -Merchants Court is better. My favourite Singapore hotel continues to Quincy just off Orchard Road.

Room Tip: Go for a high room above level 38 and ensure you get a king bed and not a room with two queen beds as they are really big singles not queen size.

Dear MarkLaurence,

Greetings from Swissôtel The Stamford, Singapore!

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We truly appreciate it when guests take time out of their busy days to provide us with some open and honest feedback about our products and services. Please be assured that the hotel is continuously refurbishing our guestrooms as well as furnishings to deliver the best lifestyle experience possible. However, due to the enormous magnitude of this 73-storey deluxe hotel, these upgrades are currently being carried out in stages. We seek your kind understanding on this.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to let us know how you feel.

We've stayed at the Stamford a number of times over the years, the last 2 times just recently. Oddly enough on every occasion there has been some hiccup with the booking. This time we had booked for 2 nights but they had a record of only the 2nd of the 2 nights. Fortunately I had a printout. On returning after time in Thailand our non-smoking room had been smoked in and was quite unpleasant. They were initially unable to give us a similar room (we had paid for a king bed harbour view room) but after a bit of a stand-off, they found a room just one floor below the original one.The fridge didn't work but they replaced it quickly.
Quirky though, the first time we were on a floor which supplied hair conditioner. When we came back and I asked the maid for some hair conditioner, her reply was that we were not on a hair conditioner floor. Didn't know you had to book the right room type to get conditioner!
I also think that free wireless internet is an expectation these days. We expect hotels to be at least as well-equipped as our homes and for many of us, email access is a necessity.
However as others point out, the location and views are excellent and the rooms are a generous size. It's just a bit too big to be consistent.

Room Tip: You do pay more for harbour view rooms but the view across the marina to the harbour is great.
