“Perfect if you don't want an impersonal hotel that could be anywhere in the world”
Reviewed February 22, 2010

The Goodwood Park doesn't have all the frills that some of the big chains do, however if you want something different, historical and in a great location, give it a try.
My first impression of the room was that it smelled damp. However it was very clean, and had all the basic amenities. It was on the 2nd floor overlooking the main pool, and the restaurants, so always something to look at. They could do with a good renovation though! Bed was comfortable.
The breakfasts were delicious!
The location was fantastic! as soon as we arrived, our first time in Singapore, we strolled out onto the street, and went next door to find some cheap food in the bottom floor of the shops (a student hang out apparently). And just a 5 minutes stroll down to Orchard Rd (ION shopping centre is amazing!) and to the underground trains.
The staff are all ultra helpful and efficient.
Internet access was very expensive.. it was cheaper to connect on our mobile phones via global roaming than use the Hotel's! this is the worst aspect. And the TV channels were fairly limited.
Our friends stayed at the Novotel.. which was a very nice hotel, great views.. but once inside you could be inside any hotel anywhere..a bit impersonal. The amenities were a bit fancier. However the location was fairly dead in the evening.. a long walk to anything.. I was alone a lot of the time, and so just had to stroll out of the Goodwood Park hotel to be in the thick of people and action, food and shops.. whereas at the Novotel, I would have felt uncomfortable walking around alone in the evening, as it was fairly dead, and a long walk from any train stop.
There were quite a few weddings on, being such an historical and picturesque hotel, which was lovely to watch.

just got back to Shanghai from Singapore. Stay was great, good service, two pools - what else do you need with kids in a city. We did have a serviced apartment in the house next door, which belongs to the hotel. It is a split level, with kitchen, two sofa-beds and a master bedroom upstairs. Lot's of room with kids. So you do not need to go to the restaurant for e.g. breakfast. Can recommend.

The location is fantastic. Service is excellent. We stayed in a pool side deluxe suite which opened onto the Mayfair pool. Where else in Singapore can you get a room with pool access? Yes the rooms are a little tired however the location and size of our room made up for it. For families it was excellent

I loved this hotel. We had a poolside suite, which while small, opened to a delightful 1920's style large pool. The staff were wonderful (special thanks to Nora, Mark, Tobias and Jocelyn), and were very helpful with all kinds of different requests. Food was excellent - definitely try the Chinese restaurant, Min Jiang (?). The thing I liked most was that in a city which can feel very busy and modern, this hotel is leisurely, set in lovely old gardens, with flexible staff. The bed linen was particularly lovely (no nasty polyester here - take note Australian Westins). The hotel is not flash in a new kind of way, but it is special. The staff all had delightful personalities. How they always remembered our names I will never know.

The Goodwood Park Hotel is suffering from a case of delusions of grandeur. Yes, the buildings are lovely and grand and historic...but that also means they're old. Luckily I managed to get the room for cheap, but I would never pay the regular rate for Goodwood (not that I'll be going back).

While the service is absolutely impeccable, the rooms really do need a good sprucing up. They are large but very old and tired looking. The lifts are also so small that I could barely wheel my suitcase through the door. Also, for the rates they are charging, you would expect free internet in the rooms.

On the plus side, you are in one of the best locations near Orchard Road - away from the bustle on Orchard itself, but just a 5min walk away.

I didn't use any of the facilities or dining areas so can't comment on those, but the pool area looked nice enough.

I travel to Singapore very frequently and have tried a number of hotels - you could do better for the money I reckon.

Stayed there with our two kids (6 & 8 y o). Had booked a deluxe room with sofa bed to for the kids to sleep in. May be good to know that the deluxe room size vary quite much depending on where in the hotel they're located. Good good service from Tobias at the front desk in getting a corner room which was spacious enough to fit the four of us for a week.

Was not that impressed with the overall service level. Spent some time at the pool, but waiters was no where to be found. Came home one evening after 11 p m, but no bar open for a drink.

The building and facilities is indeed quite old, and is not on par with other 4 star hotels in Spore. Good location, but overpriced considering standard and service level.

Had allot of issues & at a high cost to use some were resolved. Don't stay in the parklane apartments if you have young children, the stairs are slippery high & the staff will not be able to child safe them.
Staff will not let you talk to higher management if you have a problem.
Go to breakfast early or the food will run out.
I would not stay here again it isn’t 5 star as far as we are concerned. the apartments arn't part of the goodwood hotel they are behind you only get to use the pool & have breakfast with the hob nobs.
