“Very classy experience, wonderful hotel! Oriental Massage the best!”
Reviewed February 25, 2011

Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in Feb 2011 as we were attending a wedding in Singapore and also enjoyed a short holiday as we had never been to Singapore before.
The hotel was extremely original in its layout and decoration, its all a few years old but immaculate, and we could spot staff on several occassions walking around and making sure everything was presented perfectly.
Architectuarly something out of the ordinary for sure.
We had a room facing the city side but didn't really have too much of a view, but it was very big, clean with comfortable bed and atmosphere. Rooms with views are apparently smaller so its really a personal choice on what you book.
The room was always cleaned twice a day with fresh fruit and water bottles, & importantly new towels etc. The staff really look after you here.
The swimming pool / outdoor area is pure bliss in an otherwise bustling city and has full harbour/city views. You could happily spend hours a day here if you had the time to spare.

Location wise could be better. It is fine if you are catching cabs everywhere, but there is only an older style shopping centre directly next door for daily shopping. Marina Bay sands & the Casino are less than 10 minutes walk though.
If you want to shop at the bustling Orchard Road you will need a 10-15 minute cab ride. 20 minutes to the airport.

We used the concierge a couple of times who helped us book everything we needed including Jumbo restaurant! The chilli crab was amazing.
Finally we used the day spa on the last day and the oriental massage with hot stones was the greatest ever! quite expensive, but an hour or pure bliss. Enjoy.

Picked up at the airport by hotel car, arrived at the foyer where we had to wait for staff to find us for in-room check in. It must be very difficult to manage meeting people when they are arriving in your own hotel limo....

Anyway they finally managed to locate us and walked us to the lift to complete all the normal check in procedures in the room. The lift doors opened to a wonderful sight of a completely out of this world drunk, half standing holding a glass of whatever - very uncomfortable ride to the fourth floor where our check in companion happily guided him out of the lift and onto to his next fuel top up at the bar.

The hotel is old & tired looking probably 70's or 80's design - Not hard to imagine that with all the development going on around Singapore that they are going to be left behind. Good location.

We stayed four nights enjoying the "club indulgence" package, the club is nice & big enough to accommodate a large number of guests - they have a furniture layout that places two tables next to each other near the windows. However, they seem to be very reluctant to seat different parties on either of the tables.......that is if there was one person sitting enjoying breakfast at the window they rejected our request to sit at the other free table and instead herded you off to a coffin type room with no windows and zero ambience.

They also had two huge lounge set ups that would easily seat 4 to 6 but again if there was one happy camper sitting there already they appeared to accept he had the rightful claim to it all. This sitting regime only served in alienating many guest once they were walked past many empty tables/seats on their way to the coffin. We witness many other people struggling to understand and questioning this strange arrangement. Just a real dampener on what a club environment should be trying to provide guests.

On more than one occasion they ran out of glasses & plates - I'm a patient person but after waiting a few minutes for a glass for your refreshing morning juice you don't expect to be handed a scotching hot glass straight out of the dishwasher.

The whole club atmosphere and general feel was tortured and unpleasant, the staff seem to be very active playing their role in implementing policy that in our opinion is destroying the very reason guests want to go there.

About 3 weeks prior to arriving we had the concierge book three restaurants for us - two were booked without fault with the third completely messed up and contrary to email confirmations that we received before arriving.

We have stayed at MO's before & in particular Bangkok and can say with absolute certainty that the Bangkok outfit are brilliant and without peer in that city so I know what the brand can do. Overall our stay was disappointing and not up to high standards we have enjoyed elsewhere around the world.

I would urge the managers of the "club" to undertake a review trip to other providers to see how it's done - the Four Seasons Hong Kong would be a great place to start.

SIngapore was great.

Have stayed at the Mandarin Oriental before and have never been let down. This hotel defines five star service. Staff are beyond helpful and professional, facilities are world class and the atmosphere in the hotel is both relaxed and refined. It's what all five star hotels should be.

I travel quite a lot all over the world mostly on business. Staying at a Mandarin Oriental hotel is a pretty safe bet if you value good service and clean comfortable rooms. Mandarin Oriental in Kuala Lumpur is a step above the one in Singapore. Don't get me wrong the MO in Singapore is good but compared to other 5 star hotels its pretty bland ... there's no wow factor with this hotel BUT to me that's not important. I can't fault the service or the rooms and that's after all what really matters.

Stayed at the Mandarin Oriental for 3 nights and although our expectations were pretty high we were not disappointed. The staff were extremely professional but friendly and the highlights were the Breakfast at the Melt Cafe and also the Pool area which was gorgeous. The room was spotless with an extremely comfortable bed. We had stayed at the Fairmont for one night the week before, and even taking into account the significant price difference (nearly double), we felt that the MO was worth the extra cost as it just had a very luxurious feel. Location was great too. All in all, we couldnt fault it and would go back again in a flash!

We stayed at the Mandarin Oriental for the last part of our honeymoon, We stayed for 3 nights and loved the hotel.
It has a michelin starred restaurant (which we didnt know until after we had eaten there) which was fantastic adn service was as you would expect.

The room was huge, modern, clean....loved it!

Had to say a special thanks to vasanth who works there-knew our names and greeted us everytime he saw us. I lost my driving license in a club out there and the staff were very willing to call the club the next morning to see if it had been found.

Breakfast-out fo this world!!! Ypu have to go...it is truely magnificnet...you will not know what i mean until you actually go. Every single option you could ever imagine is available and you can get omletttes, pancakes, fresh fruit juice from whichever type of fruit all made right in front of you.

The only slight negative was that given we were on honeymooon we did not get any type of recognition-which in all of our other 5* hotels we visited across the world, did!
Good location too/
Overall, definitely recommend this hotel.

If you have a chance to visit this island nation, don't miss this one to stay in Mandarin Oriential Hotel. I and my husband spent a great holiday in this hotel last time. The most impressive view was the hospitality of staffs there. We stayed in a comfortable room equipped with modern equipment such as air conditioner,TV,etc.

Every morning, i could enjoy the view of beach through the window, breathing the pure atmosphere. Especially, food and relaxing services were really great. We really highly recommend it.
