“Good hotel but beware of price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2010

I've stopped in this hotel with my wife in September, 2008 during our honeymoon
Of cource, it's nice to stay in such a hotel, but you should remember that Singapore is rather expensive city and the price you pay there for accomodation is one of the highest in Asia.
The hotel is situated in one of Singapore top spots near Esplanade, The Suntec City and The Singapore Flyer at Marina Bay. It's also good that it faces the skyscrapers of the financial district, which is located on the other bank of Singapore river mouth. So, you can get the spectacular view from your balcony, especially when you're on the top floors. The rooms in the hotel are rather big which is not usual thing in most of Singapore hotels. If I'm not mistaken, now after the opening of circle line of MRT, the subway station is also several minutes on foot from the hotel. 2 years ago it took about 10-12 minutes to get the City Hall station, but all the way you could go by the underpass with a/c.
Nevertheless, I think that it's usual for Singapore when you spend in the hotel only nights, so, booking an expensive hotel may pay the cost when you can really afford this or when you have a good reason as honeymoon:) If I remember, we've payed about US$180 per night for standard room, but we had some benefits, because we booked the hotel by the Singapore Airlines programme "Singapore Stopover Holiday". In other cases I think it's better to find a cheaper hotel.

Having stayed at this hotel several times before and found it very good I was very dissapointed to find standards could slip so quickly. The first room I was given was disgusting the floor was matted with hair and other dirt I even found toe nails! It could not have been cleaned properly for a long time to be so dirty.I complained & was given another room but this also was un-acceptable. I complained again & was given a room upgrade, this room was acceptable. The staff were very appologetic & they took my complaints seriously & acted imediatley but the whole experience was very dissapointing. Also for Hotel in this price range the sunbeds are just not good enough, most of were ripped or broken & realy quite dangerous let alone giving a bad impression of the hotels slipping standards!

Excellent location and good rooms. Not a good location for leisure travellers. Close to restaurants and shopping.

When we decided to get Mandarin Marina we were very skeptical as we were not sure how good this hotel is. To our surprised, this hotel is not only worth every penny but the service they offered were impecable. We first arrived in Singapore late around 9pm and we were greeted how wonderful the lobby at the fourth floor was. However when we arrived to check in, the line was incredibly long and when we were finally greeted by Marilyn at the check in counter, D was grumbling about the line. Marilyn helped us with a swift check in and gently apologised for the delay. We are surprised with how attentive she was.

The next day we planned to visit Universal Studios but due to the demand to enter the park, the tickets were sold out and we were very upset about it but Nawi, at the concierge managed to get a tour group who has advanced tickets and got us a one way bus ride there as well. We are thrilled that the hotel has such good staff that are able to get us to the park the next day and for a cheaper rate as well. We find this over and above hospitality.

Throughout our stay, we are surprised with the room and how comfortable it is. The bathroom door may need some work as it swings out and it is difficult to go in since the room is not big enough for us to go over the other side without us swinging the door closed first. The pool is lovely and has a good pool staff who helped us even with the chairs. We are very satisfied with the services. However, when we ended our stay, we were charged with internet services which have been promised at the point of purchasing the rooms online and even an oral conformation at the desk as we check in. However, the check out staff, Siti was kind enough to help us solve the problem but the hotel, must liase with latestay.com with regards to the packages offered. We will return once again to Marina Mandarin nevertheless for its prime location and excellent staff. Well done.

We were told this was a five star hotel - i would disagree and say it was more four star. The rooms themselves are OK - if slightly dated (with the exception of the flat panel tv). The bathroom certainly could do with an upgrade - and certainly not of the standard expected in a five star hotel. That said the hotel is in a brilliant central location - certainly for shopping with several shopping malls on the hotels doorstep. The Singapore flyer is also within walking distance. If you don't mind walking, other attractions area slo within a long walking distance. Free shuttle buses come regularly to take you to Sentosa. Reception and check in were fine as were the cleaning arrangements - we never had any problems. The breakfast was of a decent quality and sufficient variety to satisfy a vegetarian! There was a gym and rooftop pool at the hotel - though we did not use these facilities. Overall, not a five star hotel, but decent four star.

I'm a Singaporean and my house was under minor renovation and i choose to stay in a hotel for couple of days with my husband. 5 star hotel but 3 star service. The reception staff is soooooo snobbish. The rooms although they did furnish with new furniture but once i stepped into the rooms, it smelt mouldy and beside the new furniture and work desk, the bathroom is HORRIBLE. Stained and mouldy everywhere. Very disappointed for staying there and i checked out the next day, not worth at all.
