A 2 night stopover in Singapore for my wife and me.
Having read earlier reviews here on Trip Advisor, we paid the extra $'s for an upgrade to CLUB level. Best investment you can make.
Wonderful BIG room on top floor level (20th level) - Free Internet acess - Exclusive breakfast for CLUB menmers only on 21st. floor. etc.etc.
Extremely friendly staff, Extremely clean rooms, PERFECTLY located for downtown strolls, everything within walking distance.

Lovely friendly staff and locals in a lovely spotlessly clean hotel. Good breakfast where the staff were very efficient - nothing was a bother to them. Peach Blossoms restaurant served us with the best chinese meal we have ever had,and we have had a few. Try the monkey head mushrooms in wasabi sauce - to die for. We had four great days in this hotel - easy walking to Raffles, Clarke key, Singapore flyer and the marina front. Shops galore surrounding it. You can enter the shopping mall from the hotel. In fact if it rains, you can walk all over Singapore in underground malls.

The Atrium was amazing, flooded with the sound of real bird song in the morning. As with most things in Singapore the drinks were a little expensive, the hotels breakfasts were superb, we tried out many of the facilities of this hotel and the were all excellent. The bar opposite 'Balaclava' was a great place to spend an evening out drinking and was far superior for atmosphere than the Raffles. Would recommend a massage / spa facilities, ideal preparation for flight home.

This is one of the older five-star hotels in Singapore. They have "upgraded" it, but it still has single-pane windows (traffic noise), air conditioning with no fan speed control (and not much control over the room temperature), and small rooms (in mine, you could not open one of the night stand drawers fully because it hit the one chair in the room). The bathroom had a separate shower, but only one sink and not much counter space. Although they have lots of staff standing around, service is mediocre--after waiting 20 minutes for a porter to help with my bags, I just carried them myself on check-out.

Singapore has lots of hotels. For this price class and market segment (upscale), you can do much better. In about the same location, I had a much better experience in a vastly superior room in the Pan Pacific a few years ago.

This hotel works well. Nice architecture and efficient service. Being 20+ years old (renovated recently) the rooms are a good size and sensibly equipt/furnished.

Don't get a room overlooking the pool (parties until late/early) and location is not good for doing business. Takes ages to get any where.
