The Atrium was amazing, flooded with the sound of real bird song in the morning. As with most things in Singapore the drinks were a little expensive, the hotels breakfasts were superb, we tried out many of the facilities of this hotel and the were all excellent. The bar opposite 'Balaclava' was a great place to spend an evening out drinking and was far superior for atmosphere than the Raffles. Would recommend a massage / spa facilities, ideal preparation for flight home.

This is one of the older five-star hotels in Singapore. They have "upgraded" it, but it still has single-pane windows (traffic noise), air conditioning with no fan speed control (and not much control over the room temperature), and small rooms (in mine, you could not open one of the night stand drawers fully because it hit the one chair in the room). The bathroom had a separate shower, but only one sink and not much counter space. Although they have lots of staff standing around, service is mediocre--after waiting 20 minutes for a porter to help with my bags, I just carried them myself on check-out.

Singapore has lots of hotels. For this price class and market segment (upscale), you can do much better. In about the same location, I had a much better experience in a vastly superior room in the Pan Pacific a few years ago.

This hotel works well. Nice architecture and efficient service. Being 20+ years old (renovated recently) the rooms are a good size and sensibly equipt/furnished.

Don't get a room overlooking the pool (parties until late/early) and location is not good for doing business. Takes ages to get any where.

I booked this as part of Singapore Airlines Stopover Holiday deal which includes transfers to and from airport and discounts for various Singapore attractions.
When I arrived at the hotel I was immediately greeted by a friendly member of staff who led me to the lift and took me up to the hotel reception area - this gave me my first glimpse of the hotel atrium which is just amazing.
I was pleasantly surprised to be given an upgrade to a Club Meritus room on the 20th floor although I am sure I would happy with a standard room going by my impressions so far.
The room has a very small balcony, an amazing full body shower, surround system, impressive lighting system and nespresso coffee maker.
I did have trouble connecting to the wireless network, you need to contact reception to obtain the password, but this was not documented anywhere.
The hotel is connected to a mall with plenty of places to eat, but it is easy to get disorientated due to the many over and underpasses.
The singapore flyer is good as well as the city sightseeing bus.

I would definitely stay here again.

We had a very relaxing break in this very plush hotel. The staff very willing to help you. Very modern clean rooms. We stayed 3 nights in Singapore and had a great time. We loved the glass lifts although sometimes a bit slow. Just a few niggles though. There are limited sun beds around the pool and we were unable to have one although many of the beds seemed to have been reserved for some time with no one on them. The staff were all very friendly but sometimes they were not too clear about prices and stated that breakfast would be $60 dollers each [£30 approx] which although lovely did seem very dear so we only had breakfast one day in the Hotel but later found out this info. was incorrect. When I asked for fresh milk in our room to make tea the same receptionist said it would be an extra charge but this also proved incorrect.

I'm actually writing this review whilst still in my Club Meritus room! This hotel is simply fabulous. The height of luxury and service. I would not hesitate to stay here in the future. The attention to detail is fantastic. The shopping mall under the hotel is huge, with everything your heart could desire. A+++++++

Great hotel for these reasons: Good beds, great service and the massive pool and poolside terrace are perfect for relaxing and making the most of the Singapore heat. Connected to a shopping mall so great for stepping out for a bite, retail therapy or simply if you want to get your hair or nails done at normal prices. Breakfast is also lovely - especially the outdoor breakfast terrace. Highly recommended!
