I was greeted by a friendly member of staff on the 1st floor and my bags quickly taken to be sent to the room. Went up to the 4th floor for a fairly efficient check-in. Asked to have my KrisFlyer card registered but was informed that unless I booked directly with the hotel then no miles earned! (How many people actually book direct I wonder? Surely "everybody" uses a booking site?). The hotel is the opposite of cosy but if you like very large spaces it certainly has lots of those with an open atrium running through the building. Still, the hotel is fairly dark (Singaporeans often don't seem to like daylight very much :-)), and has the feeling of being slightly out-of-date. Searched through every bit of paper in the room in the hope of figuring out how to log onto the wifi which requested a code on logging on. Finally called the reception and was told to call another number where I finally received a log-on code. But only for 1 day at a time!!! So had to call everyday to be allowed to pay for another 24 hours of service. If a hotel insists on charging ridiculous amounts for internet access they should at least make it easy to access! Why can't the Marina Mandarin have the standard lastname/room-number log-on like "all" other hotels?More
