Situated out of the way, unless of course you work at Asia Square or live close by, The exchange is a trendy bar / restaurant with a nice ambiance and a solid yet simple menu.

We popped in for a drink after work one day and decided to try the food. We've since been back every few weeks for drinks and food. It's a simple menu but executed very well - garlic prawns, fish and truffle fries, tuna steak, lamb shank, risotto etc.

Whilst it's never going to compete and pull trade away from outright restaurants, it will keep you entertained and you will be guaranteed a good atmosphere and food which uses fresh ingredients and doesn't pretend to be something that it isn't. Service is also very friendly.

I, too visited The Exchange during the Singapore Restaurant Week as it was one of the only few places with vacancies. I enjoyed the decor and the setting of the restaurant, with clearly a very easy and comfortable vibe in the restaurant. It's almost a bar setting since I find more people mingle around with a drink, chatting and laughing loudly, coupled with the almost blasting music in the background (which could be deafening if you are looking for a quiet evening out with your friends catching up) but all in all, I enjoyed the vibe very much.

Service is pretty good. The waitress was attentive and friendly. The downside comes with the food. I'm unsure if it's the Restaurant Week or the food has always been this way but unfortunately, the only course that I enjoyed is the dessert... The appetizers, Sashimi, were presented fancily and look utterly appealing but being in an Australian fusion restaurant, it's a far-cry from a real deal. The main course, a seabass presented in a gigantic soup bowl (or the seabass is simply too small) was bland. There is absolutely no taste whatsoever with the seabass. The only highlight comes with the dessert but it was of course a little too little too late. I looked around and most people are having burgers and fries so that could be the deal with the restaurant but I'm not sure...

Let's just hope that the food is the way it is because it's Restaurant Week...

Some office colleagues and I visited this new restaurant as part of Singapore Restaurant Week. We had not heard of it but it appeared to be one of the places that still had vacancies available. The restaurant's located on the ground floor of a swanky new office block in the business district. I liked the clean decor and immediately laid-back atmosphere. While it wasn't difficult to find, the area around the restaurant was not fully developed. So that created a relatively 'deserted' feel to the place.

Nevertheless, we were there for the food which was roughly Australian fusion. Being Restaurant Week, we were not expecting our 3-course menu to be good but not necessarily the the very best options from their menu. Indeed, we were a bit disappointed that the portions of appetisers and main dishes were fairly small although dessert made up quite nicely. Service was attentive and discreet - if they keep this up, they'll go far. And like many restaurants recently, guests could see the action in the kitchen clearly. Overall, a good place for an weekday dinner with friends.
