It used to be a trade and an attraction in the past ...real donkeys back in the past but not now... people who wanna to dominate the whole market so they came out with this tour and so... the earning as known from the real life tv show was told they only get $8 per pax/ride whereas the org company charge YOU Cost: S$39/adult; S$29/child (3-12 years old); 10% discount for >5 pax .... Looking at all the pic here,no longer feels the long lost trishaw rider feel in the mid 80s.....Riders will be extremely MONO and pointing whatever the front rider is pointing or showing, lucky and u will get a few chat with the uncle who is bringing u.... Given up on it..not recommend to others coming over to get these rides...Dont waste your precious time and money here...u can get a good walk around tour by yourself...

Was wanting to do Trishaw Nostalgia tour which takes you to Clarke Quay and Bumboat Ride. Even though at least a dozen men standing around doing nothing, you have to book online 24 hours prior.
So decide to do Chinatown Tour. Can't do this as is stops after 4pm. We were there around 5pm.
Nowhere on website does it say tour times. Says on board at the Trishaw desk that it's open til 9pm and last ride is at 8pm. Was looking forward to doing this but gave up as all too hard. Like I said, we sat nearby for half an hour and not one Trishaw was hired and all these employees standing around on their phones. Wouldn't you think they would want the business? At least 3 other groups of people also walked up and walked away. Save your money....Don't bother!

The tour was below average. I had hoped for an authentic, informative, pleasant tour of chinatown and Singapore. Instead....

We arrived and were divided into groups by tour. We waited for approximately 30 minutes to organize and start the tour. Our first stop - a medicine shop. The brief overview of the history of Chinese medicine was provided by the tour guide. I'll emphasize brief overview. After the overview, we were left to shop and received a free gift (mosquito repellent). I would have preferred an overview of by and actual Chinese medicine man/person (who was observing the tour). Candidly, this part of the tour felt like a sales funnel for the shop.

Next, we were escorted to dinner at a Chinese restaurant for a 7 course dinner. Probably the worst Chinese food I've ever had the pleasure of eating. The chicken was chewy, with no white meat, the egg rolls were minimally acceptable. We also had Garlic Broccoli which as good, but bland. The other main course item was a sweet and sour fish dish which was okay. The fried rice was devoid of flavor and bland. Desert was a flan which no one at our table finished. I'm sure there are better Chinese restaurants in chinatown... Chinese tea was included in the price of the meal, but water, soda and alcohol were extra ranging from S$4.50 (non alcoholic) to S$11 (alcoholic beverages). I asked myself who would serve dinner without offering water???

Next, we were left to shop in China Town until 8:40. Be prepared to shop among shops selling CPT (cheap plastic trash). The tour guide did not route us to the best shops, but simply turned us loose after dinner to walk among the shops. I did not enjoy the shopping.

At 8:40 we convened for the trishaw ride. Two persons per trishaw (warning to groups with odd numbers of guests - one person will be riding with another guest. The trishaw ride was enjoyable routing the group through town with minimal and varying degrees of tour guiding by the drivers (some are simply more talkative and outgoing than others). The aspect of the Trishaw ride that was disappointing was the expectation set by the tour guide for "tipping the driver". The tour guide books are clear that tipping is not common at Singapore, yet the tour guide conveyed guidelines for tipping the trishaw drivers. You should have S$4 available per person to tip. I was disappointed the tour company did not take care of paying the Trishaw drivers.

The tour ended with a boat tour of the harbor. This was an enjoyable ending to a painful tour. The boat ride circled the harbor with a narrative explaining the sites and history. I truly enjoyed this part of the trip. If you chose to do so, you could simply arrive at the harbor and take the boat tour, skip everything else and save a few dollars for another activity.

After the boat tour, we climbed into our transportation and taken safely back to our hotel.
