“About as bad as service gets”
Reviewed February 9, 2013

Vineyard looks lovely. It's verdant, it's secluded, the decor is gorgeous, the lighting spot on and the outdoor terrace perfect for brunches with kids.

But that's pretty much where the positives end. A litany of 'schoolboy' service errors plagued our entire brunch.

First we were told that all of the outdoor seating was reserved. It wasn't. Some tables were clearly free and remained free throughout our frustrating 90 mins there.

Then there was our first order. Two Lattes. This order took 55 minutes to arrive, despite our being told three times (unprompted) that the order was ready and on its way to us.

We ordered a simple scrambled egg dish. Scrambled eggs, baguette, roast potatoes, a green salad. Stupidly expensive but, hey, it's a lovely venue right?

A half our later a single egg, scrambled arrived on a very small plate.

"What's this?" we asked.

"What you ordered" they replied

"Will the baguette, the potatoes and the salad arrive later?"

"Oh yes"

20 minutes later and we still had only a small, plain, now congealed egg.

"About the extras...."

There'd been a terrible mistake. They'd assumed we'd ordered the 'children's scrambled eggs' and that's all you get. Of course there was no 'children's scrambled eggs' on the menu, so we questioned that.

"oh it's on our computer menu, not the printed menu'

We asked to have the rest of our things. The potatoes arrived 10 minutes later. The salad 10 minutes after that. The baguette, not at all.

Still no coffees at this point either and the waiter is avoiding eye contact so we can't get any sauces or an extra fork.

We're then told that we won't be charged an adult portion on the eggs.

But after 15 minutes of trying to get the bill - we were of course charged full.

A word with the manager - 'the service is slow, the orders inaccurate, you're slow to put things right and the staff avoid conflict rather than fixing errors' was greeted with this response

"I am sorry. I hear that a lot, I hope you give us another chance. It's been like this for a while. But sometimes it's better."

No compensation, no incentive to try again, no honoring of their promise on the check.

And of course our last time visiting

“Quiet and pleasant food”
Reviewed February 1, 2013 via mobile

This eatery is located at Hortpark.
They served fusion food : French and Thai. Highly recommended to visit on weekdays at lunchtime. Value for money 3 course set lunch avaliable at $35 per pax. I had the foie gras, steak and tiramisu. All dishes were good and did not disappoint. My lunch buddy ordered the mushroom soup and they were very attentive and brought a cover when they noticed she was not drinking it yet. Will definitely revisit.

“Delicious meal at good value price in a nice ambience”
Reviewed November 7, 2012

Had a business lunch in the restaurant. It is situated along Alexandra Road, at the Hort Park. Nice ambience for dine-in.

Chose $28 set lunch menu. Plenty of selection of Thai/Western food. The serving was decent and the food are delicious. Good for business lunch.

Had Thai Fish Cake for appetizer and oven-baked pork for main course with pudding for dessert. All were done extremely well. The squid ink pasta ordered by my lunch group looked good as well.

No complain about the service.

“Good little find”
Reviewed October 28, 2012

Went for a walk around Hortpark and found Vineyard, there was good selection of food all quite well executed, bit on the pricey side, we had 2 starters, 1 main, 2 glasses of wine and bottled water and the bill was $130. But it was all out of way and a really nice environment would be good to go back.
