I have noticed this place being a great bonding area for families with children. I note that the slides, pools, practically everything is enjoyable and I see complete strangers making friends with with one another. I guess this is where we kill off worries and get more people on our "Friends" list. Obviously, there would be more contact numbers springing up in this place.

“Sheltered pool, fun twisted slides”
Reviewed September 7, 2012

Singapore offers an awesome deal with these public swimming complexes for a mere dollar or two for the entire day. There's about 20 of them and the Sengkang one is my favorite by far.

It is far from the city center, but easy to reach. Hop onto the purple NE line to the Sengkang stop. Don't leave the station to the bus interchange like I did. The LRT is still within the gates, three escalator rides up. Take it two stops to Farmway. Once there, take Exit B and you should see "Anchorvale Community Club" ahead a few hundred meters. Pass the McDs and you'll be at the entrance of the Sengkang Sports and Rec Centre.

It was almost like a water park. There are multiple slides - fun for adults and kids! The twisted slides were surprisingly fun even for me. There's a small area to tan on lounge chairs if you dare to bear the sun. There's a cute water playground area for kids with slides and fountains and an enormous bucket of water on top that splashes everyone below whenever it fills.

Best of all, there's a sheltered pool where you don't have to be in the sun during the day. It's not as long as the competition pool, I don't think, but still plenty long enough to swim laps. It's shallow so there are tons of kids in there, but better than being burnt. The competition pool is partially shaded but I wouldn't risk it unless it's cloudy or evening time.

Don't wait in line for the shower at the sheltered pool (only 5 showers) if there is one. The other bathroom outside the kids playground has almost 20 showers. The lockers are 40cents for every two hours. The lockers are standard at all the swimming complexes I've been to, but not all of them have these other features - the water slides, sheltered pools, mini water park. If you google "public swimming complex singapore", you'll easily find a list of all the pools and what each location offers.

I'd recommend going during weekdays and not during school holidays. It can get very crowded sometimes, so go early or go late to avoid hordes of kids.

Don't forget your sunblock! :)

“Great - no, amazing - value for money for those with little kids”
Reviewed August 6, 2012

We saw this entry while looking for Wild Wild Wet - which was closed for renovations - and visits to Sengkang as well as Jurong West Swimming Complexes became the highlight of our Singapore vacation.

These are municipal swimming pools, but unlike most such pools I have known outside Singapore. Sengkang and Jurong (both East and West) have water slides, spraying fountains, a lazy river (at Jurong West, complete with inner tubes that can be rented) and a wave machine (Jurong East). They are amazingly cheap - 0.80S$ for kids, 1.50 for adults - compare that to 16.00 and 11.00 for Wild Wild Wet - yet well worth the visit.

The life guards are all over the place, and can be a bit draconian on enforcing slide height requirements. But heck, it's Singapore! And as a result the pools are clean, safe and lots of fun. Stop in, this might be the best deal you find to occupy the kids. And after a hot day exploring downtown or out at Sentosa, a visit to one of these parks can be a lovely end to the festivities.

This swimming complex is actually a public swimming pool, hence the entry fee is very inexpensive , like $1.50 for adults and $0.80 for children approximately. In there , there are water slides reminiscent of the old "BIG SPLASH" that existed back in the 80's along East Coast park. There are also shallow pools for toddlers to play in , as well as 2 olympic sized pools. Your kids will love this place, as it caters to both young and old. Just next to the complex is a Mcdonalds restaurant. Very convinient . To get there: Take the MRT to Sengkang station , and then hop on to the Sengkang LRT and the swimming complex is 50-100 meters from the LRT stop. If you plan to catch a cab from there, be prepared to wait a while because there are not many cabs that pass that area.
