“Good for one or two nights”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

Good location walking distance to Bugis Junction and Iluma. Very accessible by MRT. Lots of restaurants close by. I had a non-smoking room on the fifth floor with a window. Wifi is free. The room was clean but rather small. The bed was Ok but the hard mattress had a vinyl covering and the thin sheet over made it feel a strangelu uncomfortable. The airconditioning was cold bu the blanket and sheets were clean. The bathroom was an all-in-one affair with sink, shower and toilet. The whole cubicle gets very wet when you shower. There are two small bottles of drinking water. There is a meagre breakfast that you get at the Indonesian restaurant next door. The S$141 per night rate was reasonable for the room.

As a first time visitor to Singapore I was surprised at how expensive hotels were. For the price reason we chose the Marrison hotel. It was the best value/cheapest hotel in Singapore area so we stayed for 4 nights.

Very modern room with plasma TV, AC, DVD player, free WIFI, free braekfast and nice a comfy bed, but very small room. Bathroom is ultimate small, you can touch all four walls at once :-)

Hotel is close to MRT station. You can easily visit all Singapore attraction.

So, If it's just a bed that you need, in a clean and tidy hotel, then this one will be ok for you and I can recommended!

This hotel had a fantastic location, very close to Bugis Station on the MRT, so with the fantastic train system in Singapore you can connect to other locations very easily.

The room is TINY however. It is very clean and comfortable, but super small. Our bed was a double at best so both of us slept with our feet hanging off the edge of the bed. We had room to stand our suitcases upright next to each side of the bed and that is all really. Getting the more expensive room is a must, as it has windows, and I think it could be a little claustrophobic without them.

The bathroom is also tiny, with the 'wetroom' bathroom concept taken to another level with you pretty much having the shower over the toilet! It did however have great shower pressure, which is quite unusual in hotel showers I tend to find. Although small, it did the job of what more do you really need I suppose :-)

The wireless Internet was good, but slightly annoying as you can only have one device on at a time, so for us (a phone + iPad each) it was kind of annoying as each time you switched between a device you had to re-enter the login details + password but still good to keep connected with the rest of the world.

Breakfast is included but is relatively basic. My husband alternated between the big breakfast (2slices of toast, 2 small sausages, small amount of scrambled eggs and a slice of tomato) whilst I had the toast option (3 slices with jam and butter) - basic but realistically we didn't need anything else anyway so this was fine for us.

Look, this room really was small, but if you are after somewhere to lay your bags and your head at night, then this was a good option. Price was good compared to other options in Singapore, so All said and done, I would still stay here again :-)

Room Tip: Definitely get a room with a window as you need it for the illusion of space! :-)

I had a two night stay here at the end of July. The hotel is in an excellent location on Beach Road: both central for Singapore's sights and well connected by nearby stations to the MTR system (particularly easy to/from the airport).

The rooms are indeed very small, as other reviewers point out, but as I was there on my own (and spent very little time in the hotel itself), this wasn't a major issue for me. I also had a room with a window - and not a bad view - which helped. With more than one occupant, however, with any quantity of luggage, there would have been a problem. The shower room was fabulously tiny - with no space even for a shower curtain. It therefore worked as a 'wet-room' and was completely awash after a single shower. Again, this was just about tolerable for single occupancy but could have been less than pleasant if someone else had been waiting to have the next shower.

On the plus side, everything was shiny and new (and the place was generally spotless) so although obviously cramped, it certainly wasn't grim.

Breakfast was included, but this had it limitations. It's served (via a voucher issued at reception)in a very small cafe just next door. The first day I couldn't get near it because of a large school party which, after eating, used it as a waiting room for their buses. The second day I wouldn't really have minded if there had been another school party: the breakfast was meagre (a small chicken sandwich) and the service virtually non-existent.

The main problem with the Marrison really is value for money. Arguably this is an issue for all Singapore hotels which in general are overpriced, but the Marrison charges three star prices for what could only very generously be described as three star quality.

Very good location.  Bed comfortable.  The sevice was good.  Clean, but they clean the room very late... VERY small room.  Must know that the shower is over the toilette.  Convenient for one person, for too it's very small.  The only difference between the deluxe and the standard room is the window and the free wifi access.  But the wifi is only available on one device. Have earplugs. The breakfast is terrible, avoid it.  ok for one night since it's very clean. Very good price for a hotel in the center.

Room Tip: Deluxe don't worth the price.

We never got to stay at Marrison in the end but we are left with a bad taste!

We booked a (free-cancellation) room via booking.com in January for September. Because we found a better choice we decided to cancel the reservation in February. All nice and cool, got a confirmation that our booking was cancelled, however on the day of our "supposed" stay the hotel charged our credit card with the full sum. We have been trying to contact the hotel for more than a week now (together with booking.com contact person) but no reply whatsoever.

Needless to say, this is very bad business and unacceptable. We shall try to get our money back via the credit card company but it would have been so much easier if they accepted they made a mistake!

So, think twice before booking.

The rooms are ridiculously small! you can hear people chatting in the corridor as if they were in your room. Bathrooms are so small that you can easily hurt yourself! The staffs try their best to be the least friendly and helpful possible. All of this for 140S$!!!
