Owner description: "Ngee Ann City is a staple of Orchard Road, with something to delight everyone. Another large mall on the Orchard Road shopping strip, this mall has seven levels and more than 100 specialty stores including Cartier, Zara, Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss, Dior and Armani. But it’s more than just designer brands that are featured here, with Ngee Ann City also housing beauty salons, bookstores and enrichment centres. With more than 30 food and beverage outlets serving Western, Chinese, Thai, Indonesia and Korean cuisine, you’ll also be sure to find something you that suits your palate. "

The Ngee Ann City complex is one of the best shopping complexes that encompass most of what we would call the ultra luxury brands. It and the shops at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel complex will satisfy any shopper or browser who revels in seeing items from the modest to the ultra luxurious. Prices range from reasonable to the sky is the limit. There is enough to see in this complex to spend hours wandering from shop to shop (in many cases these are beautifully designed boutiques whose decors are as extravagant as the merchandise sold within them). If you are a shopper or simply wish to browse, this is an excellent choice. There is a wonderful system of lining up for taxis at the rear of the complex, but be forewarned that when lines are long, and temperatures are high (not to mention the humidity) this will be a potential long wait...better to find one's way back to one of the hotels in the area and hail a cab there.

the ngee ann city building houses many brand stores in their on designer stores and the beautiful Takashimaya shopping centre which dominates what we call Ngee Ann City. Takas as i like to call it, has nearly all brands in its shelves and takes pride in ensuring the 7 level mall is always ready for customers. Opening and closing time is like a ceremony, witness it next time you visit. Best denki on 5th level has all we need from an electronics and household store. I bought my tv from there at best price. I take all my visitors to Takas as a great starting point for their Singapore shopping experience. Ngee Ann city has a gym on level 8 and basement 2 you can enjoy Takas food halls for every type of food Singapore can offer. Cheap and expensive food on one floor. B2 also houses an open area near its huge waterfalls. Here there are always some special shows for goods. Lovely festivals. Things for kids too. Ngee Ann city is connected through underpass to Wisma Atria and then Ion mall. So you can move on your shopping experience and even come back to ngee Ann city to claim you best deals. Resturants on L4 are open till even 11pm. Visit ngee Ann city and enjoy all the floors. It can be stressful for those who hate shopping.

I usually stop by whenever I'm in Singapore, but I find myself asking why, as it's not like I can afford anything here...

This was the place to shop for luxury brands before ION Orchard and other newer, flashier malls came along; it also houses the biggest Kinokuniya bookstore in the country.

It maybe a little quiet on street level, but venture downstairs towards the basement and it's like night and day - the more affordable stores and eateries are down here as well as MRT access.
