Owner description: Holland Village Singapore is a hamlet tucked away behind the Singapore Botanic Gardens and is less that 10 minutes away from Orchard Road. This little spot has been referred to as Singapore's "Bohemian" enclave because of its variety of art and craft shops, art galleries, art framing specialists, street cobblers, gift shops, novelty shops, gourmet takeaway outlets, wine cellars, organic food outlets, custom-made shoes shop, imported kitchenware store, body waxing specialists, international school uniform tailors, master tailors, theme party clothing store, tarot card readers, ethnic home decor articles, fine dining restaurants and many other interesting shops. These outlets serve the residents of the surrounding upper and middle class estates. You can witness expatriate housewives spending their day here having breakfast, running errands, meeting up friends for lunch and enjoying a nail spa before shopping for groceries and heading home.Retail establishments are located along four streets and two shopping buildings. These streets are: (i) Jalan Merah Saga (ii) Holland Avenue (iii) Lorong Liput and (iv) Lorong Mambong. The shopping buildings are: (i) Holland Road Shopping Centre, which is along Holland Avenue, and (ii) Holland V Shopping Mall, which is presently being redeveloped, along Lorong Liput. These two buildings are often casually referred to by sales assistants as Holland Village Shopping Centre, which is a non-existent building. All these streets are within walking distances and it is a good place to spend the day strolling, relaxing in a spa, shopping, having the meal of your choice and seeing the world go by at one of its famous pubs.

This is a unique part of Singapore where you catch a glimsp of Singapore public housing meets chill out area. Spend the afternoon here walking thru chipbee garden area with the quintessential little restaurants and shops. Then take a walk in holland shopping centre where the famous lim arts is and other little shops before having dinner along the lorong mambong area where you find all sorts of cuisine on offer. If ya into jap sushi, go for sushi tei, if you want meats, there are a few steak joints, else Viet pho is there. If pizza is your thing, then visit Australia's No 1 gourmet pizza- Crust. This is the famous brand which has over 120 shops in Australia where pizzas shops are so competitive. So do go buy and grab some award winning pizzas with some unique Aussie beers. A couple of ice cream shops there like cold rock and Hagen Daz could wrap up your day!

Have a great time and make sure you spend half a day and nites there to at least appreciate holland as a truly unique Singapore location!

Paid a visit to holland village last Saterday... The road where the bars and restaurants are and which normally is open during the daytime based was shut down for traffic and only could be entered by pedestrians...

The bars and restaurants are full with expats and better earning Asians. Price are quite high but everything is expensive here in Singapore..

Had a bite to eat and a drink in a Chinese foodcourt a bit down and off the main street. Food was good and prices reasonable.

Nice place to visit and to hang out.

Holland Village doesn't appear on any of the "official" maps of Singapore they give out at the airport, so you don't see many tourists there. It is well worth a visit to spend a relaxed afternoon or evening aways from all the crowds of Orchard Rd. HV has lots of nice restaurants and fun, open air bars. Katong Laksa is great for Laksa and iota, and the ramen place two door up is also great. The back side, Chip Bee Gardens, has the best kitchen store in Singapore- Lemon Zest, Shermay's cooking school, a great deli-DePaulo, a baking supply store-Poon Huat, a vegetarian restaurant- Original Sin- it's a food lovers destination. I highly recommend a visit to Holland Village for anyone who enjoys food and cooking.

This is probably the one of its kind in Singapore. You cant find another place where the streets are closed off nitely to create a street atmosphere. Most of you who have travelled overseas will agree with me that the atmosphere created by a street closure gives it an atrractive vibe! We were hanging around soaking it in and had dinner at Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar. Apparantly, No1 Gourmet Pizza in Australia and the joint has opened in Singapore. Tried their pizza and indeed its one of the greatest secrets in Holland Village. Their oven roasted charsiew Chicken Wings are also amazing! Will be back for more! Yes!
