Our group of 5 travelled to Singapore for the 2012 Formula 1 Grand Prix. We stayed in a 4 bunk private room with 2 additional slide out beds. The facilities were all new, tidy and clean with A/C in the bedrooms and a TV. Comfy beds and linen and towels supplied. The kitchen was always tidy and the all day breakfast was well stocked. Free wifi is always a bonus plus there are 4 computers in the common area to use as well. Staff were always on hand, very friendly and easy to talk to. We really couldn't fault Rucksack!!!

Location is so central. We ended up walking to the track and most attractions and the times that we did catch the MRT we just walked across the bridge to Clarke Quay and its right there. There is stacks of places to eat or drink and there is a 7-11 right across the road. Would definitely stay again and would even bring the family.

Booked this hostel in March to stay for a week in September to see the grand prix. There were three of us staying. When we got there and we were shown to our room we were given a room about 3x4m square. There were 2 metal bunk beds and that was it. Absolutely no storage what so ever and there wasn't even a window. I asked if we could move to the next room as it was for 5 people and had a window but unfortunately it was taken. I was informed that the room we had originally booked, which was described as a 3 bedroom family room, was actually too small so he had moved us to a bigger room. There was also a building site next door and we had signs on the door saying it would be noisy from 10am till 7 pm each day. Not really a problem if the grand prix was a day race but when you are up till the early hours of the morning you really want a bit of a lie in! The staff were really helpful apart from when our room had been left open after the air conditioning had been serviced. They really didn't seem very bothered. There were three positive things though about this hostel, the air conditioning, the location and the fact that it was absolutely spotless. I have stayed in quite a few hostel and this surpasses them all in how clean it was. If the room had been bigger, with a window and a wardrobe it would of been so much better. It was pretty depressing.

It's not a hotel it's a hostel. Located in hong kong street, 10-12 min walk from MRT, the place is ideal for backpackers. Neat bed and friendly staff. I used a dormitory and hence had a common toilet/bath facility which is neatly maintained. The breakfast is open 24 hrs which means you can have snack and coffee anytime of the day. The central lobby space has an Internet facility, few books and a television with play station games. The stay is very economical compared to the other hostels in Singapore. China town is a walk away. Cut down on the luggage if staying in a hostel. Hospitality was awesome. Would def come back next time. Thank you team rucksack !!

I stayed here for 4 nights last year with a couple of friends. Staff were friendly. The rooms are very small for the three of us with 2 bunk beds but clean. The room also had a small wall-mounted TV and air-conditioning. Common toilets (with bidet) and showers are also clean with hot water. There are no elevators and you have to climb the stairs to get to the rooms. WiFi is free and there's also some computers you can use for free for internet in the lounge area. The location is good with a short walk to the MRT station and some restaurants. Singapore accommodation is a bit expensive and if you're on a tight budget, this is the place to go for.

Thanks to the staff for being very welcoming. The common area is also great. The rooms themselves and the shower area are clean but basic. I was in a ten bed and next to the door and this was a bit distracting with the door making a bit of noise every time it closed and also when the hall door caused wind to gust the door open a bit. So a fairly typical set up with the usual limitations of dorm hostels.

Room Tip: Ask for a bed away from the door

We chose this accommodation, as it was reasonably priced for our family of 4. The location was great, facilities clean and service friendly enough. However, our " family room' with 2 bunk beds was quite a bit smaller than it looked on the website pictures. Only just enough room to put bags in between our beds.

Considering its central location, it was pretty quiet. I am not sure what other options are available around this price range in Singapore, but would probably try something else next time.
