“Neat concept, but pricy”
Reviewed April 15, 2012

The reviews are true: the rooms here are very small. Luckily, we were traveling light and did not have any large suitcases because there would've been no place to put them.

The room was laid out in a very compact and interesting manner, which for some reason reminded me of an RV.

The TV only got 8 stations, but the wifi was free and pretty fast.

Overall, I felt as though the price was a bit high for what they offered.

Room Tip: I would not recommend staying here if you have a lot of luggage.

We stayed at the Porcelain hotel for 4 nights, when we first arrived we were blown away by how perfect the location is, and it is very very clean......we were upgraded to a deluxe room......which was still very very small, less than 150 sq feet total. The hotel itself is very noisy, what with tourists arriving and leaving at all hours and there is some street noise, our room was at the front of the hotel, maybe a room at the back would eliminate that, my wife's biggest complaint was that there was nowhere to hang your clothes, and nowhere to put a suitcase, there is a cupboard under the worktop which you can crawl into to try and hang your clothes in.
But....it has a kettle, hairdryer and bathroom is very nice, and a very comfy memory foam bed.......and the location is perfect in China Town.
Over all we enjoyed our stay but 4 nights was one too many for this hotel.

Room Tip: A room at the back and not near the elevator

It was exactly what i had seen and been told about. Very small room, ideal when you will be spending very little time inside the room and most of your time outside in the city. For those who fear confined spaces, dont even venture here....you may be left scarred.
Apart from a TV which shows a lot of channels and tea/coffee in the room, there's noting else on offer. The bathroom is so small that you could SH(IT/OWER) together (which i did when i was getting late).
The hotel is very very dark with minimal lighting anywehere....the corridors sometimes feel scary and if you were to even see yourself in a mirror, you might be scared.

Another bad experience was when the lift was not working and i tried taking teh stairs, there was no way i could reach the ground level. So from an emergency exit perspective i thought it was unsafe. I lodged a complaint at front desk since i got 30 mins late to office......but dont think they read too much into it. Also, internet booking is cheaper than booking directly. The hotel said they have no rooms available when i went there, only to find it on booking.com
Maybe thats the way they sell, but please bear that in mind.

The advantages are:
Located bang inside the CBD....very close to Chinatown MRT
Low price...i paid about 125S$/night

Disadvantages:
Everything else.....

We stayed here in April and it was awful. We had booked the superior room and was given a handicap room on the first floor with no windows. In a hotel that is so dark as this one, with almost no lightening (impossible to put on make up for example) not having windows is really depressing. After a couple of days we finally was able to get a new room, this time with a small window (but better than nothing!) the room was unbelievable small - don't book a superior room if you're traveling with someone (preferably - go to an other hotel!). This room was incredibly dark aswell with no good lightening, but the worst part was that the matress had blood stains and other stains on it that you could see under the bed sheets (that had yellow stains on it, I may add). Our room had been "cleaned" just a few hours before we got it but the lousy cleaning staff just didn't change the super disgusting and dirty matress until we complained. We didn't get a refund or any apology from the staff in the reception who wasn't very friendly. The only positive thing I can say about this hotel is that its close to the mrt. To sum up, if you have the option, don't go here! Not worth the money, and if you do, check that the room is properly cleaned. UGH.

The Porcelain Hotel is a pretty little boutique hotel in Chinatown. The location near the MRT was great as well as being close to the Night Market and lots of food choices. We were upgraded to a deluxe room, but it was still really, really SMALL. The bed was up against the wall, so the person sleeping next to the wall was basically trapped since the foot of the bed is where the TV is mounted. Amenities were nice and the staff was great, but there is really no place to put your suitcases. Great for singles or a couple that doesn't mind sharing a tight space.

Room Tip: Our room at the end of the hall on the first floor was surprisingly quiet. Frosted glass to the out...

Stayed here for two nights in middle March 2012. We were a group of 9 people. The hotel looked nice from the outside, but getting inside we experienced the rooms as very very small. I had read the reviews on tripadvisor of this hotel in beforehand but I really didn`t think it would be so small. I had upgraded my room to a littlebit bigger one, but still it felt like a cabin on a ferry. But the standard was good, nice bathroom, clean rooms, satelite television and friendly staff. The hotel is situated in the Chinatown area and it has a central and nice location, lots of restaurants and bars in the near vicinity. I had made 2 bookings through booking.com, first one for 4 rooms ( 3 double and 1 single ) and then another booking for one more double room. The reception only found one of my bookings (the one for 4 rooms ) in their system when we came to check-in, but they still managed to give me a extra doubleroom anyway so there were no problem...or so I thought ! A few days after checking out I received a e-mail from booking.com saying that the hotel had charged me SGD 130,- extra for NO-SHOW!!
This was not good,It was not my fault that the hotel could not find my second booking, I have now written to both the hotel and to booking.com and they are still looking into this case so I hope something comes out of this soon. All in all I had a nice time in Singapore with my family and friends..

Room Tip: Book the largest rooms, do not carry to much luggage as the rooms are small.
