So, I'm told that there are no hostels in singapore that offer single rooms. I tried, briefly, to find some only to come up with supporting evidence for what I'd been told.
So, I settled on the Park 22 Hotel (formerly the Mercury Hotel). I reserved the room at $69 per night for 4 nights. This is MUCH more than I'm used to paying for a hotel in SE Asia, but, I consoled myself figuring that it'd probably be much like a hotel room in the U.S.
It wasn't. Don't get me wrong. By SE Asia standards, my room and stay were on par. Even above average. The room, was windowless and tiny (5 feet by 10 feet), but, clean and well maintained. The staff was very friendly and helpful. All the things I've come to expect from a good SE Asia hotel room. However, $69 per night seems very high for this place. I don't have enough experience in Singapore to say if this was a rip off or not. This might be a very fair price for this type of room in Singapore. So, I'm not complaining, I'm just stating these things as facts, not necessarily as complaints.
