I stayed here on the recommendation of a Chinese friend of mine who had stayed there for several weeks. The rooms are very small but clean. The staff is exceptionally helpful. There is free wi-fi in the rooms and computers are offered in the lobby area. I liked that it was centrally located with simple access to the MRT station. The breakfast across the street was tasty. For the price and a 22-hour stay in Singapore on my way to Papua New Guninea it was more than adequate. I'd gladly do a short stay here again.

The title says it all!! The smallest room I have ever seen, no windows and even thou there are no windows the place is still noisy. Stayed 4 nights and 2 days with no hot water.
No value for money at all. The breakfast ?? Simply uneatable and disgusting served in off-limits hygienic conditions.

This could definitely be your last choice in Singapore.
The location is the only positive point very central and close to most sightseeing places and nightlife.

The location is excellent as it is near to the MRT station, and also a short way to Sentosa Resort World and many other places like Clarke Quey and City hall, etc. Wifi is available in the room, however, it is very small and the hotel seems very old. The breakfast is poor without much choices. The staff is good and helpful but they always forgot to replace new toothpaste and shower gel which I need to ask the front desk every time.

Room tip: To bring your own toothpaste and shampoo as the quality they provided was poor.

There is absolutely nothing Boutique about this Hotel.
a) It is rather a Budget Category Hotel with no Budget but rather hiped pices.
b) There is absolute nothing Boutique about this Hotel other than the fact that it is an old Building.
c) Never book a single room at this Hotel - unless you want to stay in a crammed storage room with no windows. Please note all Single Rooms at this Hotel does not have Windows.
With the price you spend on upgrading to a room with window, you can stay in any other better Hotel nearby.
d) Check in time is 14:00hrs if you are lucky! I had to wait till 15:30hrs even though I arrived early.
e) Hospitality is an alien word here
f) Even Superior Rooms are mediocre - I got upgraded myself to one at ridiculous price.
g) Cleanliness in general at this Hotel is not what I awaited of a Hotel in Singapore - spotted Bed Linen, dusty, stained and fungus walls etc
h) Small rooms
i) Breakfast included - This Hotel does not have a Restaurant of its own. Breakfast is served at a very small joint (no restaurant of any standards) like the China Town kind across the street, where the local Taxi Drivers have their coffee.
i) It is by no means value for money

The only plus of this place is that it is located in China Town and the Bathrooms are clean.

So the choice is yours.

Room tip: I would not recomend this Hotel to anyone Never book a Single Room at this Hotel - unless you are OK staying in a crammed storage room

Room was very small - the toilet and shower were practically on top of each other which was interesting. However, clean and free wifi, and affordable given the high accommodation costs in Singapore. There was a free breakfast, a traditional Chinese meal of eggs and toast which was not to our western tastes but may appeal to others.

Tropical Hotel may have changed hands as it is now called "G Hotel." Little has changed except that the staff is friendlier and more courteous. Rooms are miniscule (mine without windows), but are clean. They offer coffee, tea, and toast in the morning for breakfast. There is free internet in the ground floor where a quite cozy little room with four desks has been set aside for that purpose. The hotel is located in the middle of Chinatown, a short stroll from the nearest MRT station. Prices are modest for Singapore but a bit too high for what is for all practical purposes a backpacker's hotel. A marginal recommendation on my part; mostly for backpackers or solo travelers who only want a room for sleeping at night and no more.
