The hotel is situated in little India and within a 5 minute walk of the tube station (though is suppose it depends how fast/slow you walk) and because of this we found it a great base to explore the city. The rooms are small (as to be expected in singapore) but that really wasnt an issue for two of us as you are unlikely to spend much time in there anyway. The rooms were nicely decorated and spotless and the staff were incredibly helpful. The bathrooms were much nicer than most we have experienced in south east asia too! The breakfast was also an added bonus and again much better than we have previously eperienced. We would definitely stay again.

The location is in between Little India MRT & Bugis MRT, both about 10mins walk, so depends on where you want to go before you decide which MRT station you go, since the two stations are on different lines, but it's very convenient.

Breakfast area is very small, all tables are only for 2persons, serving 6:30-10:30am, but recommend to go earlier if you want to enjoy breakfast or you forfeit it, because the staff will clear food display around 10:15am; The poor ventilation system leads to foul-smelling inside the room, especially when someone goes toilet even next door; The toilet/bath room with all windows see through; the tiny rooms are definitely not suitable for families or kids; We luckily that could have a room with windows, however, it didn't make any difference, the windows cannot be opened and keep curtains closed at all time, otherwise, no privacy in the room, the opposit buildings are so close that might see your room.

The complimentary breakfast, free mini-bar and free wifi would make this hotel as a choice of good for value of money, mini-bar is refilled daily, you may enjoy the juice, soft drinks or beer, also including 2 bottles of drinking water, and wifi with constant high-speed.

staying here for one night at Jan 1 , 2013, it must be still in high season time, so i got high price, just because the hotel i want was fully booked. well the room was small.. i stay at the 4th floor, at nigth time, i smell food aroma, little bit annoying, made me cannot sleep well. i just went to bugis , it was about 15 minutes walk. buy some foods for dinner, then back to hotel for sleeping. The mini bar was free ( 1 can of coke and 1 can of sprite, 1 bottles of orange juice and 1 bottles of apple juice plus 2 can beer ) and u can have cocktails time at 5-7 pm daily ( though i didnt have it since i am allergic to alcohol ) breakfast was just so so..
after check-in, i saw another hostel opposite the hotel.. :))

The website for this hotel makes it sound like a big, classy, central three or four star venue. Believe me, it's not. For a start, it's in the middle of Little India - which is probably the closest thing to a slum that Singapore has - so the location is extremely bad. It's literally down a stinking, rubbish filled alley way so getting to and from the hotel is a very unpleasant experience.

The hotel itself is TINY and I mean TINY. The rooms are exceptionally small and have a very, very strong odour of mould and mildew which makes spending a night in them very unpleasant. The breakfast was poor to the point of being inedible and the staff were actually telling people to hurry up and leave the tiny crowded eating area because there wasn't enough space for everyone.

I definitely would never stay here again and I wouldn't recommend that anyone else does either. The rooms need to be half the price for the awful location - you would quite honestly be better off staying at a youth hostel than this place.

Room Tip: No tips will help you get a good room, just don't stay here.

The Moon Hotel is located in Little India, its a relatively short walk (about 5/10 minutes) from the rail system.
The hotel is reasonably priced but the rooms are tiny! Though how much room do you need if you're only sleeping in it!
The breakfast buffet is really good and there's a free "happy hour", which is definintely a nice feature.

Hotel is located in Little India. If you haven't been to Singapore or Asia before, the location will certainly shock you a little. Probably about 10 minutes walk to the closest train and about 25 minutes to the CBD. The fancy pictures on the website and the professional shots provided by the hotel are likely to mislead some people. It isn't really like this.

The rooms are incredibly small. By the time we opened our luggage, there is effectively no vacant space on the floor to move; you have to step over everything because of the room size. Certainly a cosy room though for a couple. I probably wouldnt reccomend for a family stay or for friends who aren't really close. You have effectively no privacy; the glass through to the shower and toilet is clear. The rooms have no windows, so you are reliant on the air con.

We found what the hotel lacks in space it makes up in other areas:
> great staff who know the area, go the extra mile for you and speak strong english;
> free mini-bar is a plus, although, Moon was unwilling to swap a couple items that we would not drink for water. we were advised they have a standard mini-bar
> free post-5PM drinks. each room gets 5 free alcoholic drinks. they had a decent variety given it was free. wines, spirits, beers, mixes, cocktails. (on the downside, all their nibblies were nuts of some variety. this being said, when we advised the staff, they brought us some no nut options)
> breakfast buffet was well stocked and had a decent variety, including mixture of fruits, pastries, cereals, breads. not so much hot food.

Oddly, they seem to be very protective of their coffee machine.

Some reviews have mentioned a strong mildewy / mould / moisture odour in the hall ways and rooms. I noticed this too, however, didn't think it was as pronounced as suggested in previous reviews. Overall, it didn't effect our stay.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff- very small rooms but that's Asia! Great free cocktails - usually Blue Lagoon and Singapore Sling great breakfast including good espresso coffee. Short walk to Little India and Bugis MRT and shopping centre. Tekka Centre food centre nearby. Great value compared to nearby hotels. We loved the Moon!
