We were two and we only ordered the beef rice, jade dumplings and the chicken/shrimp dumplings. Plus an ice cream scoop for dessert complete with toppings of different sort. Yumm!! We weren't big eaters so we were full with our order already but everything was satisfying. :)

A big plus is also our enjoyment of the atmosphere. It gave us a genuine feeling of being in China town - their decorations were also pretty enough to take photo souvenirs.

The service was also good and we had no problems with the billing/payment. :)

After an evening spent wondering around Chinatown with our two boys aged 13 & 11 we were looking for somewhere to eat. The lady at the Singapore Heritage restaurant was very friendly and helpful and suggested things our boys could eat, as they don't like Chinese food. It was an atmospheric place to sit and people-watch as we ate. The lady was very great and made sure we knew what we were ordering e.g. the chilli crab noodles was soft-shell crab so we could eat the whole thing. The boys ate fries & satay skewers. as well as the chilli crab noodles we had the Heritage beef rice - very yum.
Price for this plus a drink each was S$77 which we thought was good. Great service, great location, good value and yummy food. Definitely family friendly too.

When you are in China Town in Singapore I would recommend you must have food at this place, especially in the evenings! At the outset you may not notice this place when you take a stroll out of the China town MRT station.
The unique rustic Chinese ambiance attracts you to the place when you take a closer look. It has only outside eating area so you can enjoy the food as well as observe the crowd that is moving around.
The service is homely as it is managed by a family of three to four people (I guess). Nevertheless you will never feel unattended at any time. We had chicken bamboo rice (which is their specialty) and there are many more dishes to try out when you are at this place.
Although it is situated in a crowded market, still I won't recommend booking a table in advance as the turnover at the tables was pretty efficient and you may have to wait for max 15 minutes in case of a houseful.
I am not sure but it is supposedly an award winning restaurant with some of their signature dishes winning awards at food festivals. Another positive would be the comfortable pricing so that dinner with your girl won't cost you a fortune! A definite thumbs up at China town!

While Chinatown in Singapore is about as authentic "Chinese as sweet and sour chicken" at Wong's takeaway in downtown Anchorage. There are tourist joints and tourist traps,
"The Singapore Heritage Restaurant" is an overachiever in the trap category: no clear prices on the menu and when you ask for the price before ordering you are warmly and firmly rewarded with. The "why do you ask" look. As a bonus they still dare to overcharge. somebody at this place must be senile; they just quoted me a lower price... 5 min later they try to charge more. Do check your bill at this place!

This is a definite must try restaurant. You will not regret. May chose to sit outdoor to view the busy Chinatown.

Try the "Blur Like Sotong" - Squid in Malay, Claypot drunken Chicken, Chicken Ramba Ramba, Ah Gong Char Mee... Really good
