This funky, design, boutique hotel in Little India was just the right call. The wonderful hotels off Orchard Road are great, but there is no uniqueness to them and you could be (almost) anywhere in the world. Whereas Wanderlust is a one of a kind, youthful, fun hotel.

Don't be put off by the surrounding, take advantage of them! It is more like a village than a metropolis. Entering the old, historic school building, you immediately know that this is a different type of hotel. There are a variety of room choices all well air conditioned and no two seem the same. From small, pod-like room to larger loft style rooms. I stayed in a medium sized room that was very well equipped including free minibar (soft drinks only), Nespresso machine, free internet, great Kiehl's toiletries, and top quality towels and linens. My only complaint was lack of closet space making a trip of more than a couple of days somewhat cramped since you have to live out of your suitcase.

The breakfast was EXCELLENT. It was totally Western (bummer if you were expecting Asian food) and comes from their top notch kitchen Cocotte. This includes a choice fresh made eggs, omelets, pancakes and daily specials. There is an awesome muesli bar -- the best -- and fresh orange juice, good coffee and tea, yogurt, and freshly baked croissant and pain au chocolat. It is easy to linger but warning, the dining room was not well air conditioned in the morning so come down casually dressed (not business attire) or you may be uncomfortable.

The staff is excellent and can make great recommendations for restaurants and hawker centers. The restaurant itself (Cocotte) looked very nice, but who wants French food when you are in Singapore? Another suggestion -- why pay S$10 for a beer at the bar when you can go across the street and have a pint bottle of Tiger lager for S$5.40 at the outdoor food center.

I really liked this hotel but it is not for all tastes. If you are daring, young at heart, and enjoy a different boutique type experience stay here -- plus you can't beat the price! If you want the high-end, high-priced, impersonal luxury hotels then go to Orchard Road.

Room Tip: Avoid the smallest rooms unless you are only staying for a night or two.

Dear sirtravel, warm hellos from Wanderlust!

Many thanks for your kind review and compliments. We're pleased that you enjoyed your stay at the hotel, its quirky decor, amenities provided as well as breakfast!

Little India is indeed a bustling and colourful area to explore. Alternatively, we would also like to recommend our sister property, New Majestic Hotel located in another culturally vibrant area, Chinatown.

Meanwhile, safe travels and we hope to welcome you back soon so we may be of service to you once again.

Quirky boutique hotel with stylish but small rooms. Ours had the toilet enclosed in a frosted glass stall, which may not be enough privacy for some. The breakfast was just ok Euro/American style, but a welcome break from noodles. Staff was very helpful in arranging logistics, and even packed a breakfast for us for our 6AM departure. For some reason, cabdrivers do not know this hotel, you'll need to have the address handy.

If you are tired of the run-of-the-mill type hotels, Wanderlust located at Little India is a great place to start with. Firstly, it's located in cultural little India - take a stroll and take in the lights and colours of Little India, have dinner at one of the many Indian restaurants or if you up for a walk - to the 24 hours Mustafa shopping center.

we stayed over 1 night for a staycation and I really did like the place. We chose one of the Loft rooms. the lower level of the room was huge and it's an open concept with no segregation of the toilet and the rest of the room. One suggestion though would be to move the TV so that we can have a better view while relaxing in the tub. the toiletries provided were from Kiehl's so that's even more of a plus.

The upstairs area was much smaller - just a queen size bed and a much smaller tv but nonetheless a cosy area for a weekend away from the city.

One grip I had - the room we had (some starry themed one) was a lil too dark for my liking and had to be extra careful climbing up and down the stairs.

I will be back but the next time, I would definitely try the rooms with other themes.

Dear StephanieSS,

Warm greetings from the team at Wanderlust! Thank you for your kind compliments. We're thrilled that you enjoyed your stay with us, and enjoyed the surrounding Little India area.

The Space theme room you were accorded indeed is a little dark, to emulate the idea of sleeping amongst the stars. Do let us know of your preference for future stays and we'd be pleased to accord you a suitable room with more lighting. Alternatively, you may also want to check out our sister property New Majestic Hotel in Chinatown, where each room is of a different, unique design.

Meanwhile, we hope to welcome you back so we may be of service to you once again.

The total decoration might be strange for some people, old tradition people. There are no desk at the room since it is very small. So it is not for business traveler. But as it name implies, it is build for wanderlust people. I like it for:
1. Good breakfast though some choice is not good and milk is not very fresh which make me fart. I never had this problem at Hilton though their price is different.
2. Big brand bath supplies: Kiehl's. This is better than those customization shampoos..
3. Nespresso. You did not get it wrong, it is Nespresso, not some instant coffee.
4. Complimentary mini bar drinks, though only coke and orange/apple juice available. Still very good.
5. Enough fresh air supplies. Most aircon room dont have enough fresh air supplies from outside since heat/cool the air costs more power. The recycled air could make people uncomfortable, for example, do not sleep well.

I dont like:
1. too small room, then no desk no storage place.....
2. Outside hotel is a little messy.
3. Jacuzzi place is closed at 9:00pm and not allow to sit there even you dont want get into the water. It is a little bad since this place is the only open area you could laid down and look at the sky.

Overall, the price is a little high, but as a special experience, worth to stay 1 or 2 days. Not recommend for long time for the small room.

Room Tip: Find a bigger room if you can.

Dear AustinYe, greetings from Wanderlust!

We appreciate your kind feedback. Wanderlust is indeed on the quirkier side and we recognise it may not be suitable for everyone. Alternatively, we do have 2 sister properties located just one street away from each other, the Hotel 1929 and New Majestic Hotel.

It is great that you enjoyed the amenities provided in the hotel, along with breakfast. Should you be in town for business, do let us know and we can arrange for a table to be placed in room for your use. Noted also your feedback on the Jacuzzi area and we will definitely consider having it opened after 9pm.

Thank you once again for your feedback.

The hotel lobby is great, nice to have a drink at night. Breakfast was great- everything was very fresh. Staff is friendly and helpful however, the rooms are far too small. It's fine if you are looking for something different for a night, but not for longer.

Dear Giuliana1000,

Greetings from Wanderlust! Thank you for your review. Housed in a conservations building (a former school built in the 1920s), our rooms are indeed a little on the smaller side. Do let us know should you have specific requirements and we'd be pleased to accord you a suitable bigger room on the upper floors.

Other than that, we're pleased that you enjoyed breakfast and found a staff friendly and helpful. Thank you once again, and safe travels!

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in February. We chose the space loft room which was on the top floor. The room was really cool and different to your usual hotel room. We loved staying somewhere quirky, but I don't think the hotel is suited to long stays. I think the novelty would wear off after several nights and while I loved the loft bed, it's a bit of a pain going up and down - the stairs are VERY steep. The bed was very comfortable though. The bath in the living room was nice and the twin sinks were good too. We also liked the toiletries and it was nice having free soft drinks and bottled water in the minibar. We found our room to be pretty quiet and only noticed a little bit of noise from other guests, no street noise. Although I would agree with other reviewers that having a room facing the inner courtyard does mean you need to have your curtains shut all the time, which is a bit of a pain, especially as the space room is pretty dark! We enjoyed the location in Little India and there are some good restaurants nearby. It is also only about a 5 min walk to the MRT station. The staff were obliging to our requests and the whole hotel is done to the theme very well.

Room Tip: The loft rooms are great, really fun, but not recommended if you have trouble with stairs!

The location is not great, pretty noisy on a side street in Little India. It is ultamodern hotel, not inexpensive, with ultra small rooms. Not bad, but we wished we had stayed somewhere else.

Greetings from Wanderlust,

Thank you for your feedback. Located in bustling Little India, the streets can be a little noisy at times. Should we have availabilities facing the back lane, we'd be pleased to offer and assist with a room change. As the hotel is housed in a conservations building, our rooms are indeed on the smaller scale. However it has been designed to the best fit the needs and comfort of a modern traveller.

We do recognise that Wanderlust is not for every traveller and perhaps you would like to try our sister property, the New Majestic Hotel for your future stay.

With that, we thank you once again and hope to have you back with us so we may be of service to you once again.
