lovely designer rooms as others have raised. very functional. loved the huge windows for views and natural light. service is very patchy - some excellent, some far from it - but thats Singapore. concierge(s) was very helpful. sleep quality & free wifi was excellent but the aircon as mentioned was tricky to get right. 25m Lap pool & well setup gym (outside & well ventilated but not aircon). so as not to repeat the same comments over we'll add our tips for the area: Japanese supermarket under the Liang centre is a must for top-ups and supplies and excellent quality sushi (which is marked down at ~7.30pm each day for a picnic on the river for cheapskates). MRT stations Clarke Quay or Chinatown are walking distance.15-20min or about $4 in taxi. MRT to airport for ~$2.50 is good value, otherwise taxi ~ $28. good walking & jogging track on river out the front. Boat Quay Number 56 great Chinese food at very good prices right on River (we're told by the locals that people sitting on the river tables pay more than those on the "shop" side of the footpath. New Illy coffee shop in hotel foyer passable quailty coffee but staff not so great. Drinks are heavily taxed in singapore so expensive (even in supermarkets) - the bargain of the week is Wednesday ladies night all over singapore where ladies get into clubs for free and get free drink vouchers - party all night for next to nothing. great yum cha on sundays at Red Star in Chinatown - worth the queue - v near hotel.

Check-in was slow, carried my bags to my room. Room as per other reviews was snug. Bathroom was tiny but adequate for single traveller not intent on living in the bathroom. Had upstairs bed, two lcd tvs in a room that would not have felt out of place on a cruise ship (small, confined). Location is ok but taxis not easy to get in the evening. Room had been cleaned but a few things missed (hair on the floor). Would not recommend for more than one person and definitely not for those with kids (or traveller likely to engage in alcohol consumption) as stairs to bed was an accident waiting to happen. Internet sevice was free but very slow. May look hip and cool but there are cooler, cheaper and more comfortable places to stay in Singapore.

Great value offer with buffet breakfast. First impression of this hotel is a very city hotel, but once inside was fascinated by the check in counter light fixture. Everything from sofa to light fixtures is very trendy. Really impressed by the designer of this hotel. Even though there wasn't much from the buffet breakfast but the food was excellent for a breakfast. Outdoor swimming area is an excellent design. As for the room, we had the loft, but it's smaller than it advertised as really not much space to move around on the 2nd floor bedroom. The stair were too slippery for slipper and it seems like you really would fall out the window if you slip off the stairs. Other than that, great design and good price. However, the sleep quality were poor as the air condition ventilation is right on top of the bed so it would either get too cold or too hot. The bed is not the most comfortable as it is just don't feel right. Anyways, if you looking for a trendy couple retreat, this is the right place for you.

We stayed at the hotel from July 30 to August 1. All in all it was a pleasant stay but we strongly advise the staff to be more proactive with safety measures. My daughter slipped and fell hitting her hip on the 2nd floor bathroom because of a puddle she failed to notice because of the white tiles.
If she had hit her head, this accident could have been fatal or debilitating. This was reported to the Front Desk and after the perfunctory "Do you want to see a doctor?" nothing else was heard from them.
It would be a waste to see this hotel being heralded as unsafe. I only wish they would at least have shown more concern and given us more feedback.

My daughter immediately reported her accident to the 2nd floor crew because she feared for an elderly woman on a cane who was next in line to go the bathroom. She did not even get a thank you for saving the hotel from further accidents .

should have believed the bad reviews. we are sorry we didnt.
we stayed for SGD156/night, adds up to SGD550 for 3 nights of poor sleep and cleanliness.
it's a small room even for asian couples.

location
- far from any public transport
- easy to catch a cab anytime outside the hotel
- most cab drivers do not know where it is, need to show them the way

check-in & check-out
- they needed names and credit card imprint. that took 15 minutes in the middle of the night with no other guests needing service
- long q observed in their lobby most of the day
- we saw no apologies from staff for serving another person not in q first, a lady had to tell the staff that she was there first
- there was no bar fridge, but check-out still took another 15 minutes.

room
- bed is upstairs like they should be only in the premium rooms. we got the regular room with the bed downstairs. sofa and table were inconveniently upstairs.
- poor aircon placement like previously mentioned: vent directly above head, we had to choose between cold air blowing on head or stuffy warm room.
- no aircon/ventilation in toilet or shower room. so, if the sliding door is closed, the shower room remains damp/stuffy after shower
- obvious cigarette burn marks at the edge of sink of this new hotel
- good water pressure. cant say the same for drainage
- poorly fitted toilet seat

amenities
- we took a cotton bud out of plastic casing provided in the toiletries box and chucked the half open box back in the shelf. we returned the next day to find the chambermaid shoved the remainer cotton buds and opened plastic casing back into the toiletries box for us.
- dirty: previous guests' used yellow mosquito patch was stuck behind of shower door for the 3 nights we stayed there
- the pillows were uncomfortable, but the sheets and bed were good
- carpet was damp when we got into the room. we had to call and ask for bathroom slippers.
- need to join the q and pay SGD5 deposit for an adapter

pool was nice, but couldn't redeem the place.

As Singapore's hotels are mostly very expensive the Studio M Hotel is a recommendation. Price is around 100 Euros / night which is quite low. Located at the Quay's in the CBD it offers nice and modern rooms and a very good pool. Hotel is quite new so facilities are up-to-date. Unfortunately the breakfast buffet is more than poor compared to the price.

Rooms are too small and not user friendly. Lights are not well planned and difficult to use as they all turn on at the same time. Bathrooms are tight and feel like closets. Loft concept is a bad idea, I guess the hotel owner was trying to save money and cram as many rooms as possible into the limited space and try to call it hip instead of tiny. Very limited staff and too too educated. Takes forever to check in or to get anything done. The only upside was the free WiFi.

I will not recommend this hotel to a friend or colleague. For a budget hotel, I guess better to stay somewhere else>
