“Unique Hotel but need improvement and maintenance”
Reviewed April 9, 2014

We stayed at Studio M hotel for 3D2N. Check in was fast but required a $100 deposit either cash or card, and it was refundable at the end of our stay which we did requested and get it back. As the hotel has a shuttle bus service which stopped at various locations, we boarded the shuttle bus at Chinatown point. The actual location is in between the taxi stand and bus stop. Timing of the bus can be found on the hotel website.

The first word that came to my mind when we reached the hotel was unique. Hotel check in counter was out of the traditional and at end of the lobby, there was a table which provided free coffee and tea. Unique indeed for the room layout. We were greeted by the bed when we entered the room. Shower and WC were separated into two different rooms. Basin was located nearer to the bed. There was a TV next to the bed. Basic amenities were provided except shaver and comb. The room make up team really needs to pay attention to every details of the room as we can tell the they are not sincere and details enough. Vanity pack was left empty with only a box display together with a half opened sewing kit when we checked thru’ them. There was 4 hangers which I could say it was not enough and 1 of them was spoiled. Moving on to the second floor where the work desk area was which we used it mostly for food and our work using our laptop. Wi-Fi signal was very good and strong. There was this sofa which I later figured out it was a sofa bed and I enjoyed my time relaxing on it a lot.

Our hotel stay came with complimentary buffet breakfast which started from 6.30am to 10.30am. The breakfast area was located at level 2 open concept restaurant. Selection of the food was variety and delicious which was enough for a day start. For the gym, it was small but sufficient for a great work out. Swimming pool and Jacuzzi were well kept too. Towels were timely supplied. The only feedback about level 2 was the toilets. It was not promptly serviced. It was a very bad impression and we were disgusted by how dirty and smelly it was. We really cannot understand how this can happen at a four star hotel in Singapore.

During our 3D stay here, we could not see much smiles from the service staffs and greeting (a simple Morning) was lacking.

The location for the Hotel is located in between Orchard Road and Chinatown, along Singapore River. It will take 10min to walk to Liang Court Shopping Mall and 20-25min walk to the nearest Clark Quay MRT. There are many eateries and pubs around the area as Muhammad Sultan and Clark Quay are two main spots for clubber. There is bus service no. 195 or 32 which are going to City Hall and Bugis, and it can be taken from the bus stop opp. Liang Court. If not, we will recommend using the Hotel shuttle bus services which operate once every hourly or take a taxi as Singapore taxis run on meter.

On the whole, my husband and I did enjoy our stay at this unique hotel. I must say the hotel was clean and cosy except that they will need some minor maintenance and improvement on the attentiveness and service of the hotel staffs.

Singapore has a space issue, everybody knows that. Studio M has set about solving this problem by using height rather than ground area. It's actually a pretty neat solution, just not for me. The staff were so-so but don't let that put you off.

It's well located for Clarke Quay which has a good selection of bars and restaurants. Not a great location for the MRT but taxis are plentiful. Most visitors won't use public transport anyway.

The bathroom/shower room is tiny and the toilet no bigger - I prefer a bit more space.

The cafe across the road is pleasant enough and better than the breakfast buffet on offer.

It's unlikely I'll return but if you get a good price and you're only there for a night or so give it a go.

Room Tip: I think the corner rooms are meant to be nicer

We stayed here for 2 nights last April, about a 25 min Taxi ride from Changhai Airport. The rooms are small, but I guess you dont spend much time in there anyway as you go exploring! Easy to walk to Robertson Quay, and we ate there one night. A short walk to Clark Quay and we used the Hop On, Hop Off Ferry service to explore some more of the city. Marina Sands and Gardens by the Bay are a must! The Hotel pool is lovely and we were the only ones using it one afternoon. We ate Breakfast there the one morning which was nice, with plenty of choice. The two level rooms are a good idea, with the Bed upstairs, however, the shower room and toilet are a little on the small side. The staff are so helpful and couldnt do enough to help, even printed our boarding passes off for our connecting flight. Would definitely stay here again!

stayed 7nights.reception staff helpful and courteous.in fact all staff were very hepful.
Walking distance to robertson quay and clarke quay restaurants.also easy walk to mrt(underground train:)hotel breakfast was ok but we found better.a short walk to a local cafe for a local cheap breakfast or to boomarang restaurant.note try wine connection tapa and bistro for dinner.good meals and the cheapest wine in singapore.wine and drinks are really expensive in singapore.
The hotel had its own taxi stand at the back and all drivers knew the hotel.
The rooms were clean and tidy and novel-a lower sleeping area with a loft.contrary to other reviews we found the shower big enough.i'm not a small person and i had plenty of room.the toilet was also big enough.
Maid service was great.all you had to do was push the button on the wall and your room was made up.i guess the person who complained in a previous review did'nt figure this out and knowing how good the staff was if you had asked they would have told.
The hotel had a very good pool and fitness area with towels provided.
Overall a really good hotel and we would stay again when we go back to singapore

First thing to consider is this is Singapore where you will never match the accommodation dollar value of a Thailand, Bali, Vietnam etc. The hotel is ideally situated within short walking distance to Clarke and Boat Quays and Chinatown and MRT. Scheduled free shuttle bus service is convenient to Orchard Rd. Yeah shower "closet" is a little awkward but loft layout is novel and pretty cool. For S$160 pn compared to others more than happy. Enjoyable stay. Would return again.

Stayed at the Studio M on business for 5 days. Ideal position for travel into the city for business and for eating out at night.
Near Robertson quay and Clark quay, both ideal for a late night drink or two and excellent selection of places to eat out.
Stay away from the one fan only Indian restaurant in Clark quay, not value for money an poor quality food.
Overall an excellent hotel with compact rooms that have everything you need for a short stay.
Good buffet breakfast at a reasonable cost.

Room Tip: All rooms are very equal but higher up is less noisy

I chose to stay in this hotel after a friend recommended it to me. Location was really good, walking distance to Fullerton Bay, Orchard Road and the museum. Service was average, I asked for an adapter to come to my room, after forty minutes it still hadn't arrived, so I had to call again. They then ask you to pay $5 as a deposit. In general the front office was understaffed, every time I passed the desk there were people waiting. I stayed for two nights and my room wasn't serviced, although I had my room on DND until 3:30pm, I passed three housekeepers on the way out so I assumed I wouldn't have to ask them. Room was also average, when you see the reviews that the bathrooms are small, they are not exaggerating. The toilet and shower are literally a closet, a tall person would not be able to use the toilet. The shower door wouldn't close properly, and the shower head wouldn't sit properly in the bracket, which sent water everywhere. The bed was really comfortable, however after the first night I noticed that there were large rips in the bed sheets. Overall pretty poor, for the same price or a tiny bit more you can get much much nicer hotels.
