Owner description: The walks work on a simple principle: to bring people into places most other tours don't. Graveyards, smoke houses, wet markets, gun batteries, the city’s best-kept secret places. You name it, we have it. Since 2003, the Walks led by an eclectic bunch of researcher-guides have taken locals and travellers alike off the beaten track, and entertained with an endless store of anecdotes that reveal the true heart of the city. Pre-booking not necessary!

“Outstanding delivery, wonderful insights”
Reviewed May 13, 2013 via mobile

We took the Monday Colonial walk with Carol and enjoyed every minute.

Our guide was both knowledgable and articulate, weaving together local anecdote and historical research to give a top notch insight into the city's origins and development.

Would recommend this as a great way to explore and get under the skin of the city. We rally enjoyed the morning - a highlight of our daytime adventures in Singapore.

“Absolutely brilliant!”
Reviewed May 4, 2013

We were part of the Changi tour run by Carol and it was amazing! Carol has extraordinary insight and passion and was a beautiful communicator. She was thoughtful about tailoring her stories to be relevant to all the nationalities represented on the tour and had a lovely manner of involving people as she presented.

The content is incredible - so eye opening to see and hear about the experiences of POWs in Changi and the museum itself is very well designed - powerful displays, clear presentation of information, gorgeous artefacts and moving anecdotes.

My only constructive feedback is that I would have liked more time in the museum to wander around myself (but that is only because I like to read every word of every display!) - Carol gives a very thorough overview in the time that you're there and she is clear about the fact that you can look around individually while she is talking but she is so interesting that I didn't want to miss a word so would have liked another half hour or so at the end as well!

Really worthwhile tour for Australians - such an important part of our history that I knew nothing about and some incredible stories of courage. Could not recommend this tour highly enough.

“hope for a good guide”
Reviewed April 28, 2013

As is the case w/most tours the quality of the tour depends on the quality of the guide. A generic guide simply gives you information and walks you around. The better guides make it a more personal experience with supplemental background info about the area as well as their own experiences living in the area. We went on two tours and one of the guides was really good.
