Aqueen Hotel Lavender
Ranked #154 of 316 Hotels in Singapore
Reviewed June 3, 2013

It's hard to find reasonable sized rooms on a budget. The Aqueen has two larger rooms on each floor, my room was spacious and light. In the wardrobe there was space for a week's stay.Next to this was a comfortable little desk for working. The bed was large spacious with a light comfortable duvet. The shower was powerful, plenty of hot water. Two things to be picky about; were the air con whilst quiet and efficient blew down on one's face at night, there was an adjustment to fix the direction of cool air, the second was there were little details in the room that needed tidying up.
One more thing, I'm finding is a lot of hotel safes aren't big enough for 17" laptops, this is one of them - so leave the MacBookPro at home and travel with a pad or netbook.

The attached cafe/diner appeared very busy in the mornings, I opted for the food court one block up, coffee and a bowl of noodles came in at less than S$5, I'd didn't count, but I'm sure there were half a dozen similar establishments within a block. If you're not quite into the local food court experience, five minutes walk down to the main road gets you to the V-Lavender hotel at the base of which is the underground/metro station and a Kopitiam food hall - a smart almost westernised food hall experience, I can't say this is noticeably more expensive than the local food centres, they are brighter and more user friendly, whilst one gets used to the food centre idea.

Location the Aqueen isn't in the centre of anywhere, but close enough to the underground/metro, learn to use it, it's by far the best way to get around Singapore.

Room Tip: Worth paying a bit extra for the larger room.

Stayed at this cosy Hotel from 14th 17th May 2013 with my family.. The staff at the reception is always ready to help, even under severe pressure of work.
The room size is is sufficient, clean and comfortable for your stay. The security system for using the lift makes the family stay at ease.
The breakfast arrangements were excellent. The staff managing the restaurant would go out of the way to ensure that your are served even when you have an early tour.An extremely excellent place to stay.

petite menu is quiet lovely restaurant found along lavender street..the restaurant is found within aqueen hotel. restaurant looked new and has a quiet ambience. perfect for gathering and catching up with friends...
I was welcomed by friendly staff... head chef made an effort to introduce the menu he has so wonderfully created and made.

we had a 3 course meal... starting with the salad, it was light.. perfect to start the tummy for the mains ahead..
we ordered steak main and a fish main....the key was getting the steak right.. we ordered medium-rare and i must say. .the chef has aced this. .steak came out perfect.. the sauce wasnt overwhelming for the steak.. it was a lovely combination not to forget the potato mash.. that i had to lick off my plate..

the fish was served with greens and baby potatoes.. the portion was great.. enough to make a happy tummy and not burst it..the fish was nicely seared leaving you wanting for more.

the fine gentleman made lovely portion of dessert...the apple crumble ..pana cotta and black forest.. panna cotta was wonderfully made... it was fruity and made panna cotta easy on the tongue and barely feeling like a cream overdose.. the finishing black forest was the highlight.. it is a must try. .not only was it uniquely served.. the taste of the dessert left you wanting more.. ..if i were to go there daily.. i will be one happy fat kid..
overall we enjoyed our meal so much.. we have already booked up a dinner slot with more friends to share this lovely restaurant.. good job petite menu!

1) House keeping staff robs customers personal stuff like, watch.
2) leave aside a quilt or blanket, hotel dosent provide a spare bedsheet
3) 90% buffet empty all the time. Not capable of mantaining a breakfast buffet
4) the worst is.... The f&b manager, leslie needs to go back to hotel mgmnt studies... Speaks rudely, tells guest that if they choose a 120 or 150$ hotel, this is what they will get. Informs guest to go another hotel. Mannerless, and filled with attitude. Makes guest feel insulted as if guest is staying at his mercy and hasnt paid for!
5) gives business card to guest nd challenges to go ahead and complain
6) reception staff humble but wth staff like leslie and robbers in housekeeping, hotel has no future
7) in this tour, i stayed at hotel sunway lagoon, kuala lumpur, genting theme park hotel, genting and on star cruise virgo... And they all wer so beautiful wth luvly staff nd the best service. But m so disgusted wth hotel aqueen lavender, coz they r so hopeless , arrogant and are a shame to the hospitality industry of singapore.

Boo to aqueen lavender nd its inhuman staff specially leslie.

Dear Dsouz,

Thank you for taking time to provide your feedback on Tripadvisor. We are sorry to hear about your less than pleasant experience at the hotel and apologise for the displeasure this has caused you. At Aqueen Hotels, we take pride in ensuring that guests enjoy a pleasant experience, through our products or services.

The hotel offers a simple breakfast option with a selection of local and international offerings catered to international palettes. During breakfast, our associates work hard to ensure that replenishments are made in a timely manner and we do recognise that during peak periods, this might sometimes pose a challenge and we thank you for your kind understanding on this matter.

All guestrooms are equipped with a safety deposit box for guests’ convenience. We encourage guests to utilise the safety deposit box to safeguard their valuables. We trust that this facility has been useful to you and are pleased to know that your watch has since been found within the room.

With regards to your experience at the cafe, please have our assurance that we have provided the necessary guidance to our associates so that such behaviour will not be repeated. The hotel will continue to focus on its associate training and education and upholds mutual respect for guests and associates alike.

Once again, please accept our sincere apologies for the shortfall in our service and the unhappiness it has caused for your trip in Singapore. We thank you for taking the time to share your experiences with us.

Best Regards,

Aqueen Hotel Management Team

This is my second time stay here at this hotel and when the first time I got here(based on the reviews of the TripAdvisor) , I didn't expect the hotel to be this good and that too when it's considered as a budget hotel.

The hotel is right on the main Lavender Street and it's a very convenient place to guide the cab while coming back from the work and to pick cab in the morning. The rooms are quite nice too. You would find in every room a small table and stool sort of to sit and work. Unlike many budget hotels which don't offer free Wi-Fi service, there is no such thing over here and you get a free offering of the internet for unlimited number of devices and for unlimited number of hours as well. There is a small cafe shop (owned by the hotel only I guess) which seems to be nice. I haven't tried it yet but by seeing that there are a lot of people visiting it, it should be good.

The rooms are good but may be someone is going to find the beds of a little small in size (length wise) . May be it's because that the room that I have taken is for single occupancy and the bed size in other rooms is okay.

The hotel is at walk away distance from Lavender Food Square and also very easily one can walk over to the near by Mustafa center and City Square Mall. There is a lot of variety in food that's available at all the places for both non-veg and vegetarian people. So in that aspect too, the hotel is good.

As a conclusion, I shall say that if you are looking for a budget hotel and haven't yet made up your mind, you should check for this hotel first and if it is available, try to get a room here before looking for some other hotel. You won't be disappointed!

Room Tip: Rooms on the side of the road can be noisy so try to check that if you can get a room on more inner...

We decided to stay at this hotel after reading the various reviews by other members. Indeed, this hotel is very well located.. i.e. in the heart of the city. Its close to the station, bus stand, mustafa centre etc.. most of the things are at a walking distance. The rooms are small but very neat and well designed. The food menu however, is not apt for the indian palette. This is the only area where they may improve upon. All in all, a very pleasant stay.. will be back
