Aqueen Hotel Lavender
Ranked #171 of 317 Hotels in Singapore
Reviewed January 2, 2012

This was our second stay after being back to Singapore in the span of a year. Aqueen hotel is still popular among travelers. We noticed that inevitably there were very minor signs of wear in the fixture and fittings but none that bothered us. Since we drov to Singapore, would like to report that there are approx 6 car park bays (first come first serve basis) that we got to utilize everyday. The staff - Still very friendly and helpful staff. We would still consider to stay here in the future.

The services offered by the staff of the hotel is great. Worth the value paid.
Complimentary breakfast are served every morning.
If you are on a budget stay in a room with private bathroom. This is definitely a great choice.
With access to Lavender MRT Station within 15-20 minutes of walking distance. And Lavender Food Court just opposite the main entrance of the hotel offering 24 hours of Singaporean food.
You might wanna watch out for a certain stalls on their prices.

One major turndown is that the hotel is surrounded by funeral parlours. Singapore casket is located right beside the hotel. To those who doesn't mind waking up listening to chants and prayers by temples and having a church within the same street. This is definitely the choice!

My husband and 20 month old baby stayed in this hotel last May 2011. We chose this hotel because of the many great reviews. And we were not disappointed at all. The hotel had a nice welcoming scent when you enter and the front office staff were very friendly and helpful. I love the modern look of the hotel. The room may be small for some people, but it was enough for my family. The long ledge along the window of our standard Queen room allowed us to put all of our 3 luggages. The room was very clean. I expected the bathroom to be small from the reviews, so i was ok with it. The frosted glass of the bathroom walls didn't bother us, as we were a family. We were travelers that were more concerned with cleanliness and how new the hotel is, so with that, i give this hotel a 2 thumbs up!

Bonus! We love that the room came with a free breakfast buffet! we were very satisfied with what we got every morning. Some reviews said the breakfast wasn't good. I disagree. They offered a couple of hot items like scrambled eggs, ham/sausage, noodles, fried rice, etc. So it wasn't just any ordinary coffee and donut breakfast. We were very very happy with our stay at this hotel and will go back again if we had a chance to go back to Singapore for another vacation.

Note: it's about a 15 walk to the nearest MRT station. We're used to walking so it wasn't too bad for us even with a baby. If you get hungry, there's a nearby food plaza at the back of the hotel with a variety of food stalls to choose from.

I selected this hotel purely because of the good reviews on Tripadvisor. They were all true. This hotel is truly the best 'budget' hotel you will ever stay in. Neat clean and decorated !!.. It has got an ambiance to it as well..

I dont understand the reviews comparing it with the likes of 5 stars. You cannot !!... this is a completely different category .. Compare apples to apples. Singapore is generally very expensive in terms of Hotels. Aqueen was the lowest in terms of rates (even in budget hotel rates). Thus in its category this might as well be the best hotel... The biggest shiniest apple at the lowest price including breakfast.

To level your expectations...Hotel: Small, shinny lobby, carpeted corridors, (though a slighhht
damp odour.. but what ever), I liked the decor and ambiance.... Room:...expect the room to be very small in size... but very clean... small, clean, translucent glass bathroom attached.. Had it not been for the glass in between it would have been a part of the room :). (Its even decorated with 5 star styled toiletries... so I only smiled at the level of service they were bringing in their category) Breakfast is Ok .
Staff/ service : The reception was very friendly and very helpful .. Location.... is not so friendly. MRT is 10-15 mins walk.. you ll end up depending on cabs to avoid the hassle.
From the airport , just take a cab... don't bother considering the public transport.

All in all we were very pleased with our stay, partly because we were in singapore to enjoy and needed a hotel for the bare minimums. I am not experienced in budget hotel stays so i was expecting the worst from a budget hotel.....Well this one was not bad.. It was actually good !!

Many reviews have said that this is a budget hotel, but it is not the cheapest hotel that you can get in Singapore. As a regular 2-star budget hotel traveler, this was a bit nicer than the usual 'cheap-and-good' stays. However the hotel is clean, pleasant and relatively close to the nearest MRT (10 min brisk walk), so no complaints there. They also have parking facilities for those driving in Singapore (though they are rather limited to 6-7 parking bays). The rooms are a tad small though, but sufficient nonetheless.

One thing to note, for those traveling with friends or acquaintances, beware! The toilets do not have solid walls, they actually have full-height frosted window panes which leave NOTHING to the imagination when you are in the shower. So unless you are traveling with your partner, this creates some very uncomfortable situations. There's hardly any room to escape when your friend is in the shower...

The room smells of dampness. The bed is rock hard and the room is run down.
