Its a great idea, but when you get in there its just frozen shaved ice. Its cold, but our kids were disappointed you couldn't make 'real' snowballs. There are snowmen around and igloos to admire, lots of professional photographers snapping your shots everywhere so you can spend $11 per photo on your way out. There is a huge snow hill inside that you sit in a tube and slide down which everyone really enjoyed, we were the only ones there - a few couples came in, had a look around and left - obviously not what they were expecting. They have the jackets and pants and gloves and boots - just remember to take socks. Theres nothing really to do there except slide down the hill. But it was fun getting suited up and going into the 'freezing cold'.

Having read a number of reviews here on Trip Advisor I was a bit apprehensive about visiting Snow City.

On the face of it, Snow City is a little run down and certainly not glamorous. I'm glad that we only paid for 1 hour as I don't think that we even stayed that long and 2 hours would have been a waste of money. We paid extra for gloves, but not pants as we were already in long pants.

Once rugged up we entered the ice sculpture room and had the obligatory photos taken. The kids did the ice slide but my husband and I declined. I loved the cold temperature, it was such a relief and a contrast to the warmth and humidity!

The next room was the snow chamber, where you had photos taken with the snowmen (including the one from the new Frozen movie!) And the kids got to go on another slide and crawl through an igloo. They had a great time throwing "snow" at each other although it doesn't really form into a snowball.

We then went on the rubber toboggans, I went a couple of times but then let the kids go on their own. Once they were tired of tobogganing we basically left.

We did end up purchasing a set of 5 photos, they were relatively cheap compared to other places we've been but still added another $55 to our visit! We didn't eat there, we walked to the Chinese Garden MRT station (about 15 min) and then caught the train to Star Vista Mall and ate there.

Overall, as an adult it was fairly average and cost a fair bit for how average it was. . BUT the kids had a wonderful time- they measure the experience by a very different yard stick. Coming from a country that doesn't snow certainly meant that the kids found it a very magical experience, so for me that made the whole thing worth while.

We visited Snow City as part of our iVenture card and travelled out by MRT and connecting bus. Maybe our expectations were too high, but I didn't realise the only real entertainment was one slope (40 steps to climb) and a rubber tube!
Our four children, between 12 and 18, had around 8 slides down each but were over it after around 20 minutes.
Upon arrival, you need to pay extra for snow pants and gloves - they only include jackets and boots in the price. Given it is -5 degrees inside, you have to use pants and gloves! For six of us that was an extra $35 alone. Then we have the no camera policy ... so at every step, be prepared to be photographed over and over again in the hope you will spend the $20 to buy the only evidence you have of ever being there. I'm personally not a fan of this at all, it was all about money money money. Just for the record yes I did pay the $20 for the family snap - we had to have something for the Vacasian Album!
The only saving grace was the wonderful science centre just next door. Whoops - another positive ... we went around midday on a Wednesday and there was no-one else there ... so we had the slope to ourselves (only one side is actually icy enough for you to go down with any speed, so the word slope is used quite liberally here).
If you go - plan for half an hour of getting dressed and around 30 mins inside - don't book the 2 hours ... then head straight to the Science Centre for a fun day out.

Just don't go, that's my advice.
How this place is affiliated with the Science Centre I don't know, the Science Centre is fantastic, Snow City is pathetic. It's now so worn out and frayed around the edges there is no longer any snow, just looks like the remnants from a snow plough at the roadside, grey, dirty and full of rubbish. Get your vaccinations before entering this snowy cesspool where the only real enthusiasm is displayed by the staff trying to take your photo for which an exorbitant fee is charged at checkout. Everything requires an extra charge; socks, gloves, locker, socks etc, etc......and everything is torn, grubby and there are no correct sizes are available.
Once again, don't go, save your money or at least donate it to a more deserving cause!
