Expensive and not friendly

Review of Tai Hoe Hotel
2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jul 23, 2013via mobile
This is a hotel, which is in good location. But staffs are aweful. They do not talk much. They do not cooperate. The rooms are small. Singapur is a expensive city. Thats why within budget, its okey. But its not like the website definitely.

Dear Ashfaq R,

Thank you for writing about us and highlighting the points about our location and value for money. I have shared your review with the staff and the management is currently working out a system to further improve the service standards of the staff.

The rooms showcased on our website are exactly the ones you would see if you had taken the same rooms that were photographed- our upgrading efforts is continually and the other rooms are being fitted with all the pictures we could get our hands on, as well as bed runners.

We will be delighted to be able to host you again the next time you visit Singapore. Cheers.

I stayed 3 nites at this hotel on the highest floor...6th floor. Location is gd as it is near to City Mall and the MRT which is just at basement of the mall. Food stalls are aplenty nearby. Mustafa Centre is just two blocks away from the hotel.
Hotel room is ok. Tiled flooring, small LCD tv, windows are w/o curtains but replaced by sliding wooden cover. no clothes cupboard but there is an open area to hang clothes, a dressing table. Small bathroom with opaque glass door with a shower head. Overall it is comfortable enough as we are always out n night time back to rest n sleep. Oh my booking had free wifi but have to key-in password everyday. cool.

Dear AW Ladybird

Thank you for taking the time to write to us. We appreciate that you gave a very accurate description for what we offer - a no-frills hotel service at a convenient location and a budget rate. We hope to be able to host you again the next time you come to Singapore. Thank you very much.

If you plan to stay in this hotel beware, the rooms are not what the pictures on the web site shows. No cushions on bed, no bed cover or flowers or lamp on bed side. No pretty picture over bed head like you see on the web page. Room No. 604 and 606 which we stayed for 2 nights was not what they show. The washrooms is another rip off. The shower in room 606 was fixed above the commode. No shower space at all.

You got to walk down the passage in your PJ's to a hot water filter to get water for the cup of tea/coffee.

WiFi in the rooms is charged for.

The staff at reception were not friendly, and very surely had difficulty in smiling.
Location was good and convenient, close to Farrer Park MRT station so you could easily get to shopping locations

This sure is a BUDGET HOTEL REDEFINED
as the web page says.

Dear Indira

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about us. The pictures of the rooms on the website are the actual pictures of our rooms. We are continuously upgrading the rooms and at the point of writing, most of the rooms have been fitted with bed runners and cushions. The space constraint has caused the architecture of the hotel to carve out some awkward layouts for the toilets of a couple of our rooms and this feature is not unique to our hotel but shared but many other budget hotels as well.

Our wifi service is provided by an IT company that charges us for every card but we absorb the charges for bookings made on our website. Thank you again for the feedback and I will be sure to share it with our staff to spur them to greater performances.

I went there to help my boss find a hotel. He was looking for a 2 week stay and had narrowed down to this hotel. They charged him 110 SGD and were not at all willing to give a discount for 2 days. From the outside this place looked solid. The rooms were clean but were not that special. For the price, you could expect more and will definitely get more if you search well. On top of that the Wi-Fi was chargeable for 6 SGD per day. Also my colleague had complained about the noise at night and was not impressed by the staff. After staying there for a day, my boss shifted to Hotel Grand C, which offered him a better price and the rooms were much better than Tai Hoe. Grand C offers heavy discount if you are looking to stay longer and also its rate is 90 SGD per day. You can bring it down to 70-75 SGD depending on your stay.

Room tip: Better move to Hotel Grand C as it is cheaper and better than Tai Hoe. For 110 SGD this place is not at all worth.

Hi Vik Peace,

Thank you for taking the time for this review. I think when it comes to the topic of value-for-money, it is always subjective and many of our previous guests have reviewed that we are a bargain for the location and quality of rooms that we provide.

Grand C is our neighbour and we do not comment on their hotel pricing policies but we run a standard fixed rate for our customers and we certainly cannot offer a discount for two nights' stay. We are charged by our IT provider for the wifi cards, hence, we have to pass on the cost but we absorb the cost for customers who book at our webpage and we are currently looking to extend that to walk-in customers as well.

We are disappointed not to have met your expectations and we will be taking the effort to seek out the areas for improvement. Thank you for your time.

well, after mt star cruise, i come for stay in little india, but my bad luck, all hotels were packed, so we decided to take this hotel as we have no options left with us, it was terrible stay, uncleaned rooms and bathroom, we spotted some cockroaches in bathroom, insects were all over in the hotel, too much noisy, as its near to busy street and glasses are not sealed properly, nothing was good in this hotel at all, staff was not at all helping for any guidance, room service is worthless, lift was stinky, too horrible experience

Room tip: better take room at higher floor as possible

Dear Aneeshbansal,

Thank you for your review, even though it gave no redeeming feature whatsoever to our hotel. While such reviews are distressing to us, the management appreciates them as it forces us to confront the weaknesses we may have in our service.

On this occasion, the main concern would be the insects. We conduct a pest extermination program every month and we are puzzled as to how they may be a problem the way you have highlighted. Meanwhile, we have engaged the pest extermination team to conduct a more thorough exercise on the hotel.

I truly apologise that the stay has fallen way below your (and our) expectations and we ask our guests to be assured that we are making every effort to rectify the areas highlighted in the reviews on this webpage.

Tai hoe hotel is a nice hotel in strategic place. You can find almost everything within a minute or two by walking. MRT station located in front of the hotel, just at the basement of city square mall. Can't sleep at night? You can walk around mustafa, which is a great place to find souvenirs for friends and, it's open for 24 hours too!

Anyway, i stayed with 1 toddler and 1 infant. There's a fridge inside the room, which is very helpful, since the kids only drink pasteurized milk. Great for keeping the fruits too.

The officer at reception is very nice and gave me a choice of rooms. There's no bell boy to bring your suitcase upstairs, but hey, that's all the singaporean said, you got what you pay laahhh :D anyway, i definitely would stay here again if i visit singapore again. Very reccomended.
