I went there looking for
Something very specific. I was lucky that I found it after checking 4 shops. I could have gotten lost in this place. It helped that I knew what I wanted. There is a money exchange place of the first floor.
Is nice place to look for electronics for mobile and computer or smart watches
I was searching for smart watches but after looking in different places it was not available except in Sim Lim Square and once they brought the smart watch they told me with camera and the coast 190 S$ but after I search in internet I found it with 65 S$ so after Long discussion he give me with 85S$
Be aware
These people are fraud. Never use your card, the giver you receipt for one price and charge another. It's a tourist trap but if you do go, use cash, atleast they can't charge you more afterwards. Also the quality is terrible, don't trust the label
Born and bred singaporean here.
Simply put, this place houses both very good and very bad of shops and anything in between. From bait and switch shops to those that charge you for warranty on a monthly basis all the way to shops that are honest to a fault.
levels 1-3 are mostly cameras, commercial IT equipment not meant for average end-users. level 4 and 5 are mostly DIY pc components but do beware of the usual tourist scams and tactics. Use common sense, if it's too cheap, it might be too good to be true. Never hand over your credit card until you get the item, plus you might be able to get the issuing bank to cancel the charges if there is a scam.
Some shops are cash only and some offer a discount if you pay via cash. Technically, there should be no surcharge for credit cards but some shops offer a discount if you pay cash OR tell you the prices are valid for cash only (yes I know it's a contradiction)
Most shops operate on a thin margin so bargaining might not work.
A new train line opened up and the station is just right beside the place and 1 stop to the bustling Bugis area and train interchange.
Sim Lim Square is a mega-mall for electronics. You can get anything from RJ45 connectors to very advanced surveillance cameras. If you know it, or have heard about it, it's there. Take your time, ask for prices and you will leave much more happy. If you have a broken phone, laptop or anything similar there is someone who can fix it. Again inquire for prices. Have a good trip to Sim Lim.
This is regarding my recent purchase of action camera Yashica YAC 436 from Singapore on 29 th of Jan 2017 from Sim Lim Square Electronics mall. The seller "Hi-V Trading" took 350 Singapore Dollars for the same. I searched on the internet and the price seems to be mostly near 190 Singapore dollars ( 130 USD). I have the bill of the same.
Later I went to the mall again after Chinese new ended and reconfirmed the price from other shops and they offered me for S$ 165. I was cheated for S$ 185.
I am thinking to file a complaint against the some authority now.
Never going back here. Don't recommend to any one
