Park Hotel Clarke Quay
Ranked #54 of 316 Hotels in Singapore
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed January 5, 2012

LOBBY: Very small and cramped with only seating for 6 persons. Luggage stored next to seating and computer terminals, no secure luggage storage! For Business Hotel there is no free WIFI or even WIFI in the rooms.

BREAKFAST: If you like to queue then you will love the 20 to 30 minute waits. Food quality poor, cold and very unappetising, they charge extra for additional beverages the only ones available are from ready made tea urns with a product that is strong and bitter. Juices are not fresh and very watery. They charge for ICE!

ROOMS: Very very small even for Singapore! No space to put luggage if you have more than one case then don't stop here. Plumbing very noisy with poor flow to the washbasin and shower. Towels and bedding appear to have been well used and would not look out of place in a hostel. Pillows are synthetic and very uncomfortable. Beds are uncomfortable and squashed between the wall and desk with no room either side. If you don't have a pool view room then be prepared to keep the curtains closed due to the proximity of the office blocks. Only one chair in the room so you have to sit on the bed.

STAFF: They leave a lot to be desired they are often rude and do not communicate with each other, give false information and do not return calls. Over charging and mischarging are endemic and you need to watch this carefully.

Overall the Park Hotel Clarke Quay is a clean 3* property with very small rooms with rude staff. Please avoid and give you Dollars to another hotel.

Room Tip: Don't book a room here

We arrived late in the evening and were very tired after a long flight, we were made more than welcome asked to take a seat and were given a welcome drink while the receptionist sorted our room. she returned with the room details and explained our bags would be in our room by now, her attention to detail was just what was ordered. The room though a little small if I am honest was great all the comforts of home and more. With fantastic views over Clarke Quay

Room Tip: Request a room overlooking the pool

This hotel was in a great location to the night life of Clarke Quay (5 minute walk) and the Singapore river is only 80-100 metres away where you can go on one of those famous Bumboat rides.
The fantastic shopping district of Orchard road is only a short taxi ride away ( approx S$6.00). The Christmas lights on Orchard road would rival any city in the world. They where just fantastic.
There was four people in our group with one being a smoker. The Park Hotel offered the smoking floor. We took it thinking there would be a disignated area on that floor for the smokers. We were wrong, every room on that floor could be smoked in. The stench from stale smoke hit you as soon as the elevator door opened. Even my borther who was the smoker said it was very over bearing. We should of asked to be moved to non a smoking floor but we couldn't be bothered as we were only there for one night.
During our short stay in Singapore we hired a private guide which was well worth the money.
She took us to places you would not even know about and she tested our taste buds with some pretty weird stuff. If you want a guide, google Anna ong.
Overall the hotel was in a fantastic position for the night life of restaurants and bars. There would have to be at least 15 different eateries within 200 metres.

This was a fantastic hotel the rooms are modern and very clean, the pool area is just wonderful and the pool is heated so its not freezing cold to get into. Staff are all polite, friendly and very helpful. Only downfall would be the room size they are abit small and don't have a balcony, but this really didn't bother me at all. The Location is great as well as you can stroll to Clarke Quay or enjoy the more layed back Robertsons Quay.

I lost my ring in the lobby bathroom - if anyone has picked this up please contact me on my email a.lorrenharris@gmail.com.

Stayed on the last nite of 2011 and woke up in the morning of 2012.

was an about 10mins stroll from Clarke Quay MRT station to the hotel itself. checked in and stayed on the 10th floor which is the crystal club superior room, first impression of the room, not really well lit even when all lights are on, but who really needs a well lit room to rest.. a table lamp is there for use if u are there for serious work. shower area wasnt up to my expectation. was rather small. a river view room will be a better choice as u can view the whole light up business district area at night with no blockage by other nearer tall buildings.

2011 ended surprisingly well for my partner and me with delightfully nice cup of cuppacinno at the wonderful Crystal Lounge after we checked in. peaceful, quiet, great view of the city out from the window of the crystal lounge made me really sit back and enjoy my cup of afternoon coffee and afternoon snacks. staffs were attentive, courteous, initiative, and observant. I saw them greeting the guests who stay for a couple of days by names. whao...

I was asking if the lounge will be open till midnite as the view for fireworks will be great but sadly it closes at 11pm, but was informed that there will be a countdown party at the conceige area at the ground floor. was told by the staff that last year they had free flow of wine and champagne, but ain't sure what they are serving this year though. was acknowleding to her for informing us about it and we carried on our coffee and relax.. after 5mins, the staff came over to us again and told us she went to check out with her colleagues and informed us that at the party, free champagne will be served this evening.. oh.. was really surprised she took the initiative to go and ask. well done Angeline!

corktail is served free flow. they really have a whole range of corktails available!! and be assured.. they aint miser over their share of the liquor.. i sat right infront of the counter where they prepared their drinks and was really surprised by the quantity of liquor they pour into the glass man... whao.... light snacks (or rather if u are a light eater it is dinner) is always ready to be picked up from the counters. pizzas, salads, cheese, meat, etc.. if u are curious if they serve something, jus ask the staff. if they have it, they will get it for u. eg: u see scramble egg only? ask for sunny side up. they will get the kitchen to prepare for u willingly.

as the lounge doesn't allow kids below 12 to enter, its not recommended for families with young children to book this package, but if u are travelling without young kids, its really a good place jus to sit back and relax in peace. coffee, tea, juices, and light snacks are served whole day long until 11pm.

as check out can also be done at the lounge reception, it made us felt more convenient. if u are waiting for time to pass to catch ur flight back at a later time and have no other plans, u can still hang around at the lounge to rest till a later time to leave even after u have checked out. Evelyn helped to give ideas what to try for the corktails and gave me a deep impression on her professionalism. she worked till 11+pm and came back before 6.30am for the breakfast timing and she looked the least tired and she was still able to smile and really brightened up my day.

walking distance to the pubs and bars at clarke quay, sure to keep one entertained and have fun. even if u get drunk, u still be able to walk back to the hotel with ease.

Service was great at the crystal lounge, highly recommended for couples or business trips or solo tripper. will be back again when there is expected fireworks but this time with the river view rooms. ^_^

Room Tip: ask for the river view. ^_^

I have been to Singapore numerous times for holidays over the years, and have stayed in a wide range of accommodation from YMCA to top-notch hotels on Orchard. Park Hotel Clarke Quay is by far the best I have ever stayed in. We were there for 2 nights from New Year's eve. I made a booking months ahead so the rate is not high at all for a hotel of this standard (<S$200 per night plus tax) at this time of the year. We arrived from Sri Lanka by a very early morning flight. With the previous evening being Dec 30 and NY's eve upcoming, I honestly did not expect an early check-in. To our surprise, the reception staff was very accommodating (perhaps noting that we looked horrible after only 2-3 hours' sleep on the flight) and let us have an early check at 10am!

The room is very clean, modern, adequate (though I agree it's a bit small for 2 people) and is quiet albeit we actually stayed on the 2nd floor next to the pool!

We did not eat there so I can't comment. I did swim and the experience is delightful.

Free shuttle service is available to Clarke Quay MRT and Orchard. Though infrequent (around once in an hour) it's good enough for connection to main business and tourist spots without hussle. Taxi fare (daytime) costs no more than S$5 to China Town, and around S$20 from airport.

I will definitely stay here again unless the rate scars me off.

Room Tip: Any one will do. We stayed on the lowest (2nd) floor right beside the pool but still could not hear...
