“All Ok for a dollar!”
Reviewed May 30, 2012

We took advantage of the one dollar stopover deal with Singapore airlines from Australia to Europe. The hotel prides itself on service, and we found it lived up to that reputation. The stopover counter at the airport hadn't issued us with the correct voucher, but the hotel sorted it out without any fuss.
The room is very large by Singapore standards. And best of all, we were allowed checkout at 4pm. There is a small but well eqipped gym and the swimming pool is a perfect retreat.

We stayed here on a Singapore airlines free stop over deal, glad we didn't pay for this place.
The staff are all very friendly and helpful, but the hotel itself really needs some renovations done. The air conditioning in our room was terrible creating a very stuffy environment. The corridor and room had a stale smell to it, carpets worn, TV didn't work properly, just everything all a bit sad and tired. To their credit the room was clean and the bed comfy. I don't know why a good quality airline such as Singapore would hook up with this hotel for their deals as it is nowhere near the great standards I am used to from Singapore airlines.

I stayed here for three nights over Easter 2012. We had three in our room and the third bed they brought in was very uncomfortable camp bed, but having said that the other beds and pillows werent too comfy either. The bathroom was ok,fairly clean as was the hotel generally.

They didnt have any record of our booking when we arrived in but sorted it out pretty quickly and the service was ok. We ate in the Japaneses restaurant on the first night as we were starving after 12 hours of plane food, but it was fairly expensive and not great quality.

Location was ok for jumping on the MSTat Novena a couple of minute walk away. If not, taxi's to central were failry quick and very cheap.

Run down place and the brothel on the second floor is a depressing/shameful place with sex slaves brought in from all over South East Asia. A very sad sight indeed.

A really ordinary place which I will try hard to avoid next time I am in Singapore. The staff were very pleasant and let me check in very early, but the room was grubby. It was an unrefurbished room, but that didn't mean that it had to be so unloved. I ended up telling my daughter not to touch the curtains, because every time they were moved, billows of old dust erupted from them. A hostess bar for decrepit Chinese gentleman tourists was off the main lobby.

I didn't take the breakfast. Newton Hawker market is 5 minutes walk away, and open for breakfast. I did try the Bakuteh pork soup lunch set at the restaurant one day and it was fantastic.

The pool was the high point of the stay. Spacious, clean, swimming with the stars above, and the sound of the traffic below was a nice way to finish up the day.

A real mixed bag this hotel. If it was cleaner, I would give it a 3 or 4 easily.

Room Tip: Make sure it is a refurbished room, maybe you might have more luck than me.

Was not thrilled... Hotel needs some refurbishing.. Rooms are not in a good shape.. Very cold AC and hard mattresses... Had a hard time to get internet connection, which was finally discovered at the lobby in old computers with tokens... It had a gentlemen's club as part of the amenities... So-so food.. But the price was right for all above. I guess if you are not planning to spend much time in the Hotel it might be very economical decision to stay there as lots of other places in Singapore are very VERY pricy.
