“Prince Of Wales, Boat Quay, Singapore”
Reviewed June 24, 2012

I stayed in POW, Boat Quay, from 21-24 June 2012.
The staff on duty - Don and Kent - were most helpful.
Thanks guys!
The strategic location is just great. So is the view from my dormitory window.
Boat Quay is in the Heritage District of Singapore.
Talk to people around you and make friends. That is travel.
From Changi Airport, just take the Green Line MRT to Raffles Place MRT Station.
Aim for UOB Plaza and walk for 10 minutes to POW, Boat Quay.
Enjoy your stay in POW Boat Quay. Value for money.
Cheers, guys!

Just arrived in Australia after a 3 night stay at prince of wales, highly recommended, clean rooms, good air con and brekkie is good value. the location aint too bad either, flagging down a taxi to anywhere is pretty easy as well if you wana go further a field. 30 seconds walk in any direction the Indian food is epic, and there is a variation for any budget. last of all the staff were a good laugh and accommodating.
If we were to return to Singapore there is no doubt I would stay there again but remember to take (or remember) your passcode out with you. otherwise your end up staying in the hotel opposite (like me :))
this is by no means putting a downer on my experience but i am pretty sure salt was split on my caeser salad, but i didnt complain, i just drank more!!

What a awesome experience it was staying here for 3 days. Being airline flightdeck crew for a major airline and hitting 40years old this year i have never experienced a backpackers before so decided to do what ive always wanted to do, and am so glad i did. I had a private room and all the staff were so friendly and the the bar staff too. The hostel's location is right in the hub of everything. POW thanks for a most memorable 3 days and will miss you guys.

We stayed in the POW at boat quay - a perfect place for a drink at night, and within a 5-10 minute walk of several MRT lines making the rest of the city easily accessible. China town is only a short (15minute) walk too. POW is also a live singer/band pub, but we still slept easily on the only night that they kept music on late, as the sound doesn't travel through the building too much. We slept in the dorm, which was large and fairly spacious with good (anti-bedbug!) mattresses and clean sheets. Lockers and towels are also available. The showers were very good and all facilites kept very clean. Breakfast is included - simple toast, jam and fruit with unlimited tea/coffee. Use of the computers and internet in the dorm is also totally free. Amazingly, this all comes at an incredibly low price (about £10 each for a dorm room) - accommodation in Singapore is notoriously expensive. I would highly recommend the POW.

Good location but be careful if you drink/eat outside as the young chap who serves in the garden makes up his own prices and short changes... Very very dodgy place...

Most pleasant accommodation in Singapore for me. I first stayed at the Prince of Wales Backpacker hostel in April 2010. Malcolm welcomed us with a friendly smile and refreshing drinks. The place and people had good vibes. My friend and I were sold. We stayed at the mixed dorm room. It was clean and the beds' mattresses were excellent! There is good air-conditioning to stave off the humidity. Had ourselves a really good sleep after being out and about in Singapore. The bathrooms are clean and have hot/cold water. Free Wi-Fi/use of internet and breakfast (brewed coffee, tea, toast, eggs, fresh fruits, marmalade and vegemite) included. Great place to hang out and get travel tips. There is a live band/gig during the weekends but I don't hear much noise from the rooms (I was either very tired or happily buzzed).

Stayed here again last April 2012. It is such a great location and the vibes are still awesome. This time Teddy took care of me and my fella. We stayed at the Darwin room. Lots of space, good bedding on their queen-size sleepers, towels, toiletries, breakfast and Wi-Fi included. Footy is also shown on the big tellie down at the bar, but I prefer to lounge around their beer garden at the back.
Washing machines are available for a small fee. They'll keep your bags for you at no extra charge if you are checking out but flight is still in the evening.

I stayed in the Adelaide room and my expectations were far beyond met. The room was large and had an aircon, the dorm beds also had aircon which isn't always easy to find. The toilets and washrooms were always clean and up to par. The noise is only on scheduled nights and normally turns into good fun if you are open to new experiences. The staff was always friendly and helpful, especially Neil, he's great...and strong!

Room Tip: Adelaide is closest to god
