“highly overpriced”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 31, 2010

We went here while staying in Singapore for a week. No need to book,as they are not busy(what does that tell you).I ordered a ribeye steak with mesculan potatoes, when it arrived i was gobsmacked, it was the thinnest sandwich/sizzle steak i had ever seen, no way was it a ribeye and the potatoes were about 2 tblspns of pureed mash. I was very disappointed and hungry. My husband had barramundi but wasnt expecting it to be served in a soup with floating potatoes, he did enjoy it though. The staff were not overly friendly but the service was quick as we were the only ones there. We didnt order any wine as the cheapest one was $65. Very expensive restaurant. Take note that they charge 10% service charge & 7% gst so that added another $12-13 to the bill. Find somewhere else, like Skinny Pizza which is inside the complex, or Harrys@Esplanade, 8 Raffles ave, alcohol still expensive but better food.

“Great fish but overall not value for money”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 30, 2010

We visited Double Bay upon recommendation from a friend. We booked a table but there was no need. We did have high hopes and were not disappointed by the fish (sea bream in a coriander batter and chilean sea bass in beer batter - a signature dish) however we were very disappointed by the service which was slow; quite honestly the restaurant was virtually empty (and this was on a Saturday night - not a very good sign) so there is no excuse for inattentive waiting staff. We chose a bottle of wine only to find it was unavailable as indeed was the second bottle we chose, all the Rieslings had sold out. The dessert was poor and over priced. Towards the end of the meal the staff started laying white linen table cloths which looked very nice and we wondered why the Saturday evening meal service did not have them. The fish was excellent and the location is brilliant but one can't help but think that the owners are relying upon reputation. With minor adjustments this would be a regular haunt for us.
