“Simple local and tasty!”
Reviewed January 23, 2013 via mobile

At this place the locals fight to get a seat. They dont speek English with one exception. BUT their sweet and sour chicken is to die for!

“Great Hor Fun and Ha Cheong Kai”
Reviewed November 27, 2012

Its my first review but my gazillionth visit. Ok maybe a 100 times? Honest. There are maybe 6 variations of Hor Fun there but do check out the beef and fish Hor Fun. There is the egg laced one or the black pepper variety. And do check out the prawn paste chicken. BEST! and it can go on like the Hot Pot Tau Foo, asparagus and even roast pork. Expect to spend up to S$11.00 per head but I guarantee you will be FULL. Think its closed on Mondays.

“Tasty well prepared food with a bustling local crowd”
Reviewed February 8, 2012

There are some dishes that are specialities of this well priced local restaurant . However what you order depends on whom you are eating with . For those not very used to the spicy cuisine , we would order the deep fried pork loin. Tender pork marinated in a HP like sauce, fish slices with Chinese broccoli and prawn paste chicken .
If we eat with locals , we order Yong tau foo , fish paste stuffed in bean curd pockets cooked in a claypot with a zesty black bean based sauce and steamed fish head.
Whatever the choice , the proprietors are friendly and helpful , and the atmosphere is friendly

“Great Local Chinese Food. Some Excellent Dishes.”
Reviewed August 26, 2011

One of my favorite places to eat local.

Its an old style eating house - so dont expect anything more than that. You will eat from
melamine plates and bowls on foldaway tables and sit on plastic chairs. But sit in the back lane and it is really quite nice especially when there is a breeze. Its old Singapore and charming.

Whats really good:
Fried Sliced Fish with Bitter Gourd and Black Beans, Long Beans fried with prawns and sambal (chilli) , Beef HorFun (rice noodles) with Black Beans, Big River Prawn Soup Noodles, Clay Pot Fragrant Chicken ( Strange and Wonderful)......
lots more......

BUT.....Make sure you tell them that you DONT WANT ANY MSG.
Food is great without it so I really dont know why they use it.

Always Good !

if you cant speak chinese well and need some help...ask for Chris....who is the owners son and very helpful and obliging all the time.
