“Beautiful pool, signature scent”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

The pool and the hotel's scent are the 2 most distinctive features of this hotel. More on that later.

This hotel is located right in front of Imbiah Light Rail Station at Sentosa, Singapore. This makes it very convenient to get to Resorts World (and Universal Studios), Beach station (for Sentosa's beach and island attractions) and Vivo City on Singapore main land for shopping mall facilities, a bigger variety of more affordable food, and the supermarket for supplies. The Light Rail is free and you get unlimited rides within Sentosa.

You can get free entry passes at the lobby concierge that allows you free access in and out of Sentosa for 3 days at a time. Be sure to get this if you intend to leave Sentosa island to explore the rest of Singapore, otherwise you have to pay each time you want to enter Sentosa again. This also makes the Light Rail completely free and unlimited. If you are entering Sentosa by taxi (from the airport) to check into the hotel, be sure to print out your hotel confirmation email. The Sentosa entry gantry will ask for this and it will save you the Sentosa island entry fee.

Beware that Sentosa's food options are severely limited and always overcrowded during holidays. In moevenpick's immediate vicinity are only KFC fast food at Imbiah Station, and hotel food/room service, which are expensive. If possible, feed yourself while exploring Sentosa instead of returning to the hotel for meals. Or for more variety at lower prices, go to the food court at Vivo City (only 15mins from the hotel via light rail during non-peak hours but up to 45mins or more during holidays). Note also that the food at the Vivo City's food court is 50% to 100% more expensive than typical food courts elsewhere in Singapore (including Orchard Road), and 3 to 5 times more expensive than heartland coffeeshops.

The hotel itself is clean and beautiful, with a signature scent that will accompany you throughout your stay, and will be the first thing that greets you as you return to the hotel after a jaunt on Sentosa island.

My room was on the highest 6th floor. It had floor to ceiling windows facing the sea and was beautiful, clean and comfortable. The toilet is one of the largest I've experienced in hotels, almost as large as the room itself, with space for a sitting toilet cubicle, a standing shower cubicle, a separate space for a bath tub and a vanity top. A few small grouses with the room - the view for most if not all rooms face a bus interchange situated immediately beside the hotel (the sea is a bit further). The TV remote control didn't work and someone had to come change the batteries. I didn't get any moevenpick ice cream to welcome me to the room, so that was a bit disappointing. The room is otherwise great and well above my expectations.

The pool is a beautiful centrepiece for the hotel, so be sure to enjoy it. Great that they provide towels at the poolside, as befitting a luxury hotel. There is also a small gym available, but it's near the entrance lobby so not much privacy there. Overall, the staff are friendly and eager to offer help.

Above my expectations were the breakfast and the TWG teas. The breakfast was some of the best I've ever tasted in the innumerable hotels I've stayed in, with a fresh, delicious spread of both western and Chinese fare, accompanying the day's papers. TWG teas were provided at both breakfast and in the room - my wife couldn't keep her hands off them.

In conclusion:
The hotel's location is excellent if you intend to make Sentosa, Resorts World and Universal Studios a main feature of your stay in Singapore. These attractions are a short ride away or as close as a leisurely stroll. It's also close to Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay, the Singapore Flyer, and a short distance to Orchard Road. Beware if you stay at Sentosa during holidays and peak seasons as it can get terribly crowded and you can feel trapped on the island with long queues and few food options.

The price of Moevenpick is one of the lowest, if not the lowest for a luxury hotel located at the central area of Singapore.

The comfort, cleanliness and service is close to impeccable and my wife and I very much enjoyed our stay there. We stayed at moevenpick for 4 nights to visit Universal Studios and various Sentosa attractions, and to get away from Singapore main land, as we are Singaporeans.

We spent five nights at the Mövenpick Heritage over the Easter Holidays. This Hotel is in many aspects the antipode to what you normally find in Singapore. First its location: it is not in the CBD but on Santosa Island, 50 Meters from the Monorail station that either takes you to the beach or to the city via the huge Vivo Shopping Mall where you can change to the Metro. Then its size: it has only 192 rooms divided into 2 wings guaranteeing very personable service. Our comfortable room (with a Nespresso Machine !)of very contemporary design was located in the new Heritage wing. There is a big breakfast buffet (no queues…) closing down at 11 am and we also enjoyed a fantastic Sunday Brunch plus a fine à la carte Diner that was served on the outdoor Veranda which was a special treat for us as we came from a severe and never ending winter in Europe. We noticed that the Hotel seems to be a weekend refuge for Singaporeans wanting to enjoy the distractions of Santosa Island. Concluding, I could certainly recommend this hotel for Individuals and Families wanting to enjoy some relaxing days in Singapore combining easy going leisure and pleasure of Santosa with fast and easy access to the bustling City centre.

We booked two rooms for 3 nights, interconnected for our family holiday in March 13. Enjoyed the stay a lot. Staff were friendly and helpful, from the potter at the front door to reception and housekeeping. The welcoming ice cream was a great idea. Nespresso machine in the rooms made nice coffee too. Location was great, with Imbiah station right in front, making trips to Vivo City for meals and shopping extremely convenient. It was very centralised, with the Merlion a beautiful sight at night and major attractions all within walking distances. Only downside - pool and gym were a bit small.

Room Tip: 3rd floor is best as it's street level.

We booked the hotel on the special deal and it costs SGD 176++ in the most basic room for a stay for just one night while on transit in Singapore. Although it is quite far from the airport, but we still pick this hotel given that this price in Singapore, its value for money!

In terms of hardware, its quite nice, but the bellboy service is TERRIBLE!

We got to the hotel and walked from the Imbiah Station to the hotel entrance and there was about 10 steps of staircase and the bellboy at the door just stand there and looked at us carrying all our luggage without even offering help for carrying our luggage or opening the hotel door for us. This was actually quite irritating given that we have just been on a long flight and was extremely tired.

Apart from this terrible experience, they got us free upgrade to the Suites room (originally offering us at an additional SGD80++ for upgrade and breakfast, which we have turned down and then they offer us free upgrade.), the rest of the hotel is good.

About the Suites room, there was no bath tub or make-up table for ladies. Also the water pressure for the shower is very low and the sound of the drain and toilet is loud and in the toilet there was a strange little wooden chair for no reason. Further, DONT choose the room next to the elevator, you will hear the noise of the elevator even at the bed of the Suites given the thin walls of the hotel. Apart from these bad features, the Suites rooms are good.

I planned a surprise birthday trip for my wife and informed the hotel about it beforehand. When we arrived, we were greeted by friendly staff who led us to the reception, where the concierge surprised us with an upgrade to a suite! We were overjoyed! The room is pure luxury with excellent finishings, smells good, awesome coffee, spacious bathroom and bath tub...it was so hard to leave!! It's right in front of the monorail which goes to the beach and also vivocity mall it's only a short distance walk to the Universal Studios Singapore. The welcome ice cream is great instead of drinks! We had an awesome time at the movenpick and would love to go back...the next time with our kids!

We stayed over for three days during the Good Friday weekends in Rm 314 and we were greatly impressed by what we experienced. There is an all-round freshness regarding the hotel which makes us feel relaxed and rejuvenated. Oh, how we love the fragrance at the lobby area. The hotel's staff is superb in their courteous and cheerful manners. The room is extremely tidy and cozy, and it comes with a spacious bathroom. Last but not least, we truly loved the buffet breakfast that we had at the hotel’s restaurant. At $45 for two, it provides a wide-spread of wonderful delicacies. Return stays at this hotel are certainly on our agenda!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel on our first trip to Singapore. The staff were extremely helpful (proven when on arrival we found that our tour company had cancelled all our tours but the hotel staff had it all sorted out in a short time), our great thanks to Ismail. Breakfast buffet choice was amazing and most appertising. The Location on Sentosa was ideal, short walks to almost everything and if we didn't want to walk, the Imbiah mono-rail station was just across the road (no noise issues). The room was a little on the small side but it wasn't really a problem as we didn't spend a lot of time in it (out touring!). As a coffee lover, having a Nespresso machine in the room was great.
Again, we had a great stay at the Moevenpick, primarily due to the friendly staff, including Vivian, Gana, Phillipe and Nicholas.

Room Tip: If having a double or twin room, ask for one on level 4 or higher otherwise you'll be looking ou...
