Le Meridien Singapore, Sentosa
Ranked #6 of 13 Hotels in Sentosa Island
Reviewed December 31, 2012

I travelled with my family last 28-31 December 2012, the peak of the peak tourist season, and got 3 adjoining but not interconnected rooms as requested. I understand that this request is not easy to grant at this season.

The best part:
1. Just infront of the hotel is the Monorail Imbiah Station that can bring you to the Beach, to Vivo City or to Universal Studios Singapore. Best of all, it's free! Ticket Courtesy of the hotel (good for 3 days).
2. The swimming pool is a hit with my kids. Although they have to decide whether to swim or go to the attractions.
3. A few step across the hotel is the Merlion Plaza, and all the attractions in Sentosa just an escalator away.
4. The Moevenpick Ice Cream served at the lobby. (Although we got this on the second day and not during check-in)
5. There is a Nespresso machine in the room, and it makes a very, very good coffee.
6. They can arrange a package tour for you at no extra charge.

The not-so-good part:
1. We were supposed to be in a non-smoking room, but when we enter the room it was stinking with cigarette smoke! We had to ask the room boy to bring in a vacuum machine. The culprit: the previous occupant left a lit half-smoked cigarette at the bathroom when they checked out.
2. They never change to fresh towels daily. On the third day, we have no towels at all when we return to the rooms. When we ask for it (at 8pm) over the phone, they gave us the striped swimming pool towels instead of the whites because they ran out of clean ones! This is a gross mistake because as a hotel, you should have towels at least 4 times the number of rooms.
3. Breakfast is on the expensive side. (My bookings thru Agoda did not include breakfast)

On the overall, we we're satisfied. I would recommend this centrally-located hotel if you want the attractions in Sentosa Island, but preferably not on Tourist Peak Season. Happy New Year 2013!

Room was small (deluxe room). Poor noise insulation. Signs of water stain on ceiling. On plus side, the staff at check-in was efficient and very pleasant. Location wise, not the most conveniently located on Sentosa to Resprts World attractions.

I wasn't expected that moevenpic was located in the center of sentosa where everything is near you. The Hotel overall is perfect place to stay in, but there are stuff annoyed me and my family which are:
- The room service is not good at all, I never had a full room amenities always they miss something in the room
- They never consider if you come in an early flight, they give you the room exactly at 2 pm never before

But other than that the hotel is nice, have a great design, and beautifull swimming pool.

Room Tip: Great location

We finally got round to going to Universal Studios Singapore so decided to make it a staycation at the Movenpick Hotel on Sentosa.

Unlike other reviewers, I found the service throughout (reception, housekeeping, restaurant) to be friendly and helpful. Though small, the rooms were contemporarily designed in beige and earth-tones which was restful and to my taste. The hotel was generally clean and neat but there were small details that need attention - for example the light fixture at the reception was noticeably dusty and the water-mark stains on the full window in our room rather marred the excellent trees and sea view. Our room (624) also had 2 water-stains on the ceiling board (probably from a leaky roof) directly above our bed. A little disconcerting to be sleeping under the stained ceiling but because we were only staying the one night, we didn't bother trying to switch rooms.

The breakfast buffet was good. I particularly enjoyed the egg station (the chef cooked with care and a smile), the smoked salmon as well as soya milk. Again it was service with smiles which was appreciated.

I like the colonial feel of the place and it was certainly more serene than RWS across the road and I would certainly recommend it.

Movenpick is conveniently located by the Imbiah Station at Sentosa Island. The hotel (not beach front) is just one train stop to Universal Studios and a good walking distance to a number of good attractions within the island. It is reasonably priced and have fairly good sized rooms. Rooms with balcony at higher floors have a good view of the Merlion. Rooms are not sound proof. Currently undergoing a major renovation, therefore can be noisy during the day. Breakfast spread, average. Staff are friendly and helpful.

If coming for a sightseeing trip within Sentosa Island and will be out most of the day, this will be an ideal hotel.

Note: Visited July 2012. Please check hotel's official website for renovation updates/status.

Room Tip: Higher floor rooms with balcony will have a very good view of the Merlion.

We have a 2 bedroom suite. Very clean and sleek designed. One bedroom is fitted with 2 single beds that can be pushed together to combine them while other bedroom comes with a King bed. Comfortable cushy and firm bed. A living room which sat 7 comfortably! Both rooms are spacious with space to move around and place your luggage. All fitted with top quality furnishing including the toilets -a good rain shower and a big clean bathtub. Great breakfast with asian/western varieties. Good housekeeping - rooms were tidied up when we had breakfast. Requests were promptly attended by housekeeping and also at the restaurant. Obviously a well run new hotel.

Room Tip: High floor corner suite with a seaview

{+}
Some aesthetically pleasing visual touches to the rooms.
Striking public areas.
Close to a clean artificial beach.
Variety of room lighting choices.
Power window curtains, open to view of greenery & the nearby shipping lanes.

{-}
Air conditioning defective- room temperature would not cool beyond a minimal degree.
Very inadequate soundproofing... Examples include: Being able to hear everything {sneezing, conversations, etc.} going on in the halls. Doors not buffered to prevent slamming noise. Constant disruption from tweny- four hour maid service operation.
