“S$1 fee to walk into Sentosa Island”

You can use a $1 coin or pay by EZ (travel, top up) card. Takes about 15 min at strolling speed with the help of airport type travelators, passing some plants and good views of the harbour, cable car and Sentosa Is at a distance. Starts from VivoCity mall which has an excellent food court; cheaper and better food than on the island.

The Sentosa boardwalk is a ~600m stretch, with convenient "walkways" in between so that you do not actually have to walk the entire distance. You can walk along admiring the riverside and the various flora planted all along the boardwalk. If you are visiting Sentosa for the first time, this leisurely (and pocket-friendly - all it costs is the $1 entry to the island) walk is the best way to enter!

Definitely a pleasant and relaxing way to get to Sentosa. With tons of shade and moving walkways, you will hardly mind the 500 meter trek from VivoCity to the island. As others have mentioned, it's the cheapest way to get there at S$1/person entrance fee, although the next best way, taking a cab, isn't that much more expensive at S$3 one way (especially if there's at least 3 of you).

Once you cross the Boardwalk, head right towards Resorts World and follow signs to the Lake of Dreams, which sits at the foot of the steps that take you to the Merlion Tower and Imbiah Point.

TIP: Bring S$1 coins so you can use the automated gates. Otherwise, you'll have to buy a pass at the ticket counter.

At 1$ /adult, it is cheapest way into Sentosa island. Its hardly 500-600 meter walk out of which almost half of that is escalators like you see in Airports. It starts from Vivocity mall , 1st floor. Sentosa Express goes from 3rd floor. Nice causeway, with good garden, nothing much. Once inside Sentosa island, Sentosa express is free of charge and Sentosa express ticket (4$/adult) is just for entry into Island. Roaming around in Sentosa express inside the island and returning back is free.

This is not exactly an exciting attraction or highlight of Singapore/Sentosa, but I guess I'm just writing this as a brief travel tip. At $1/adult, the boardwalk is the cheapest way to get to Sentosa if you don't want to pay for the cable car or monorail. It has been done well, is shaded, and is a pleasant and easy walk (about 700m?). There are travelators along the way and might even have been a kiosk.
