“Great hotel after renovation. Excellent location.”
Reviewed December 31, 2012 via mobile

We stayed here after the renovation and it was great. Staff is attentive and service is good. The hotel is conveniently located near the free bus seevice that does a loop around the island, which runs very often.
Pool is fun and kids loved it. The lightning warnings that require the pool to be evacuated are a spoiler but its for everyones good and understandable. We will certainly come back.

Where can I start with this amazing hotel? It's the Shangri-la chain. Can I say more!! Hospitality at its best. I've stayed at this hotel for over four times!! Every time I visit Singapore I make sure to book a room at the Rasa Sentosa. Now a little about this hotel, you are always welcomed with a warm sweet smile. Check in takes seconds and once you reach the rooms, you are welcomed with a scenic view. Whether hill view, garden view or sea view, it's pure Mother Nature. And the best part are the harmless yet funny roaming monkeys, peacocks and tropical birds. As for the comfort of the rooms, they are just luxurious. Just a buzz to the room service and your requests are delivered as swift as leopard can run. Breakfast at Barnacles is a fresh start with a vast assortment at the Buffett. And a nice drink at the Bubble bar would make a lovely treat. If you are a fan of Boeuf Burginion, make sure to try one at the Casserole. It's a Gastronomic affair! I still crave it. As for transportation on Sentosa island, well there are plenty of accessible buses, taxis, Sentosa express and even bicycles from and to the hotel. The staff are very helpful with any transport facility you may choose. In short, I couldn't recommend a better hotel. Be sure to book a room there if you ever visit my beloved Singapore, my home away from home.

Room Tip: Try the rooms at higher levels. The higher you are, the better the view of Sentosa island.

We have been staying at the this hotel since 2005. The rooms have recently been refurbished and have been updated to a high standard. Gone are the outdated bathrooms, the redecoration is superb and the showers are fantastic. The staff are always very helpful and professional from the moment you arrive to the day you leave. Breakfast was included in the price and apart from one day when the table was cleared whilst we were getting our food and our table went from reserved to unreserved (on the one day we had no baggage with us) we had no complaints. The options are vast and the omelettes are delicious! If you can afford it request the deluxe sea view, we love seeing the tankers in the sea. Alas this visit no monkeys.

Room Tip: deluxe sea view if you don't mind seeing the tankers in the Sea.

We arrived at the Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa Resort late in the evening. Having arrived soo late we found that the check-in was not crowded at all. In hardly any time at all we were all checked-in. The staff was friendly and professional. Our Panorama room was well maintained, in good condition and didn't show any obvious damage from previous vacationers. We went as a couple and enjoyed the time there.

The food at Dine On 3 was good and the location of the hotel relative to activities was not bad. The hotel is actually serviced by the Sentosa Bus which can pretty much get you anywhere you realistically need to be. Maps for the area surrounding the hotel are also readily available and will help you plan this out.

When we went there were mostly adults. So if you're looking for peace and quiet it's not impossible to find at Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa (assuming you're worried about kids). I can't think of anything I genuinely disliked about this hotel. However, I've stayed at All-Inclusive hotels before and the fact that lunch and dinner had to be paid for in addition to the price of the rooms was a bit much.

Overall though, it was a good place to stay. We felt safe at all times, appreciated the tidiness of our room, found the view and grounds interesting, liked the layout of the pool and were satisfied with the quality of food and service overall.

It is very likely that we will return to this location someday. We would recommend the Rasa Sentosa for anyone with a little extra cash.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights last week and my husband, my 2.5 year old and I had a pleasant time. We got upgraded from a room with a hill view to a view with both sea and hill view!

The hotel was renovated and the rooms were spacious and very clean. The swimming pool and facilities were great. Breakfast buffet was outstanding and i loved the peacocks walking around to entertain the children. you must try the french toast which require lining up for. We also tried the other restaurant is the noodles bar and this was also quite yummy although a bit pricy.

My only complaints are: There was a slight long line up during check in and during breakfast if you arrive past 8:30am. The afternoon tea at the lobby, the food and drinks were for free and self serve but the place was a mess with garbage! I would also suggest including some child amenities such as toothbrush, cups and hangers for convenience.

Room Tip: We got a room at the end, 1088 which was quite roomy with a separate luggage section. Good for famil...

I stayed at the Rasa for one night for the ZoukOut Dance Music Festival with friends. The Hotel is of a pretty high standard and located very close to Siloso beach. The amenities are what you would expect and the food is very good. The rooms are very nice with comfy beds.

Stayed in a Seaview Suite with wife and infant daughter for a week. Now I'm not saying it's a terrible resort, but nothing about the place would cause me to strongly recommend this property.

Clientele: This is by and large a family resort. Lots of children. Good kid's club. Mini merry-go-round for toddlers. Pool area has big "kiddie section" with shallow waters. I wouldn't want to be here unless I'm with my kids, but my daughter had a wonderful time.

Room: A bit tired, and not very spacious. When we ordered room service, we had to move the coffee table out of the way to make room for the cart. Surprisingly devoid of usual amenities (i.e. there were no wine/beer glasses in the room). Again this is reflective of the entire property being geared to cater to families. My suite had a big outdoor veranda area, with artificial grass lawn, and a jacuzzi. Jacuzzi was small and not at all inviting.

Food: Bad. Everyday, buffet breakfast was exactly the same, zero variance. There's really only two restaurants. Main restaurant has these mini sections (i.e. noodle place, weird Morrocan casserole stand, a bar), but essentially it's a one large buffet restaurant, and food isn't that good. The featured restaurant by the beach is actually pretty bad. Had dinner there once, way overpriced for what you get.

Convenience: This property only has one shuttle service going to the city, but none to other parts of Sentosa island. Granted there's a bus terminal about 3 mins walk, but the hotel is on an incline, so a bit inconvenient when you're trying to move around the island with a child and a stroller. Not a big issue, but we felt walking down the hill, waiting for the bus, or else calling a cab for that 5 mins ride to Resorts World was always a bit cumbersome; and the bus back from Resorts World to the hotel is a big pain, and taxi lines get really crowded. We always felt the need to eat out every time because we didn't want to have dinner at the resort, so every evening it just became an ordeal.

Pool/Beach: Pool was wonderful for kids, but cannot expect the same attentive pool service you get at more private resorts. You want drinks, you need to walk over to the bar and place the order. Beach was small, and not very inviting.

Service: Kind and attentive. No problems here.

All in all, this is not a 5-star property. I think it's okay for families with small children, but next time I would seriously think about staying at another hotel or even at one of those Resorts World hotels.

Room Tip: The seaview suite not recommended. Outdoor area not impressive, noise from neighboring suites, jacuz...
