This hotel is truly one of the best I have stayed at. The rooms are lovely and spacious, with top quality beds and bedding. The bathrooms are sumptuous and the meals are delicious. We had dinner at La Casserole restaurant last night and the food was superb. The chef came out to ask us if we had enjoyed our dinner.

The hotel is on the island of Sentosa, but the hotel provides a complimentary shuttle bus every 20 minutes which is an excellent service.

Free wifi and internet is provided and the computers are clean and well-maintained.

Staff are excellent. I cannot praise this hotel highly enough.

Room Tip: We chose an ocean view room which was well worth it. The view is splendid.

Shangri-La's Rasa Sentosa resort is a resort in the city, ideal for family staycations and for families will small to tween kids.

The positives:

1) Fantasitic facilities for families. Great pool with multiple shallow areas and frog fountains that little kids love. Also a separate splash area and 3 slides leading to separate pools. Kids club, game room, and art room also great for younger kids.
2) Acceptable beach within city limits
3) Good access to Sentosa activities (you can consider this a plus or minus), which are classic Singapore artificial, but still fun for kids (Universal Studios + the many created activities on the island.).
4) Most rooms recently renovated from what I understand, so not as dated as many of the comments suggest
5) No problem making noise at meals (a positivie if you are a family), and respectable food.
6) Not too far from city (15-30 minutes, depending on where going - about 15 minutes to Boat Quay/China Town/Marina Bay, and 25 mins to Orchard Road
7) Kids everywhere (a plus if you have your kids!)

The not so goods:

1) Rooms are small by Shangri-La standards - family garden rooms can feel claustrophobic/slightly cave-like
2) Food nowhere near as good as main Singapore Shangri-La or many of the other 5 Stars in town - buffet particularly disappointing for a Shangri-La.
3) Access to town for business/multiple trips a headache, and taxis do take awhile to show up.
4) Sentosa is plastic, but ok if you have the right mindset
5) Beach is ok, but view is to huge ships everywhere
6) Definitely not a classic "beach resort" if you are really looking for this - it is a great in-town beach facility, nothing more (unless your idea of a beach resort is looking at a port).
7) Kids everywhere (a nightmare if you want relaxation as a couple)

In short, a great staycation/kill a few days stop for families, but not for people looking for couples relaxation or a business hotel in Singapore (or access to the best restaurants, for that matter).

Stayed at the Rasa Resort after reading the good reviews. The Rasa is a nice place but no where up to the standard of the Australian and American beach style resorts. Breakfast is good, but not great, maybe great if you are a 5 year old. This is not the place for a quite vacation, the pool is full of children throwing balls etc, English larger louts drinking pints of Tiger, bands playing at garden weddings and don't plan on getting any sleep before 2300, there seems to be a rave/dance party/disco going on not to far from the resort property. Don't stay here if you want to get anywhere in Singapore quickly as Sentosa is still somewhat isolated.

When we checked out my wife said that she felt "rested and relaxed" and for a new mum, that is a glowing endorsement! We spent one night and two wonderful days at the Rasa. It's our first time since the refurbishment and although it wasn't as luxurious as you would expect from the amount spent, it was a great place for families and is incredibly child orientated.

The staff were all excellent, a first for a Singapore hotel, and all geared towards making the kids their priority. The spa (my wife said) was excellent and good value.

If you have kids and want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Singapore life, this is the place for you!

Room Tip: We choose the slightly more expensive sea view room which was excellent. I think it was only $50-ish...

Nothing beats this hotel when it comes to service. The hotel was extremely helpful from the time of reservation up to checking out. Breakfast is very good. The place is just perfect. Kudos to the guys there like Grace Chan, James McAdam and countless others including the guy who suited up as Robin one morning and made balloons the next day.

It was a great experience. I would definitely go back.

Stayed for 7 nights and had a really nice time! Great breakfast buffet serving both traditional Western/English and Indian/Chinese. Hotel had a free shuttle running every 20min off the island to Vivo City mall. Nice pool and beach area however the 100 + ships in the harbor don't make swimming in the ocean very appealing. Free wifi worked all over the resort and all the staff were very nice and friendly.

Would stay again.
