we went on a weekday so its only 66 SGD (i think its 72SGD during weekends and public holidays). no madagascar ride open for adults, unless you want to take the carousel. the shrek roller coaster was too short (less than 45 secs), and the shrek 4d was well, for kids. we then went to Jurassic park, the rapids ride was closed due to "technical problems." the canopy ride queue was long, so we took the dino flyer ride instead. again too short and for kids. we proceeded to ancient egypt. at least the mummy ride (revenge of the mummy) was open. 5 mins queue time, but it took us maybe 30 mins to finally take the ride. its awesome, i admit. not recommended for people with heart problems, scary and stomach-churning. i screamed till my throat hurt :D no other interesting rides, battlestar galactica rides still closed. food was not nice, we tried the chicken place. except for the mummy ride, the ticket price was not worth it. i guess they should bring down the price until all the rides are opened, or at least give a refund when one of the rides break down. too expensive for what it can offer (for now).

The Universal Studios in Singapore almost replicate the one in California, the ambience and the entertainment value that it offers ,of course it is smaller. I like the MOnster Rock shown in Pantages Theater, the 4-D Shrek movie , the Steven Spielberg simulated cinema, the Rockefellas Streetboys , the Waterworld and the characters that roams the park, there's a lot souvenirs and photo opportunities, although the weather is very hot , from time to time one will forget about it because you're so busy running after the mascots for a photo op.

We went May 12th with the family. Adults were 66 Sing dollars and kids 48 as it was a weekday. There was loads for the kids and I thought the pricing was pretty much ok. The ticket included a 10$ voucher. five dollars to buy souvenirs and 5 dollars for food per person. For us the highlight was the Revenge of the Mummy roller coaster which was pretty scarey stuff especially for Christie. The roller coaster was not working for "safety reasons" so I won't be reviewing that when its back online in October. We ate at Louis Pizza Parlour - pretty tasty and reasonably priced but hardly worth writing home for.

We went Universal Studio on Monday 3rd May.
I purchased the tickets online http://www.rwsentosa.com/Attractions/UniversalStudiosSingapore . As it was a Monday, so the adult’s ticket is $ 68 and child’s ticket is $ 48. We bought the express tickets @ $ 30 each. We actually printed the tickets from home.

The official opening time was 10.00am but we were allowed in early at 9.30am for photo taking sessions. The 1st session of the park is Hollywood. It had the merchandise shops such as Universal Studios Store, SuperStar Candies, Star Characters etc.

Total 22 rides but only 18 were open now.

Our experiences told us if we start from the RIGHT side of the park, we should beat the crowd. However we turned LEFT and joined the crowd.

The 1st left turn from Hollywood, we came to Madagascar. I thought the ride King Julien’s Beach Party-Go-Round was really child-like. I found myself fighting with other kids to sit on Melman the Giraffe.

Next we came to Far Far Away. The 2nd ride we sat was Enchanted Airways. It was a junior roller coaster with height limit of 92cm. Because of the express tickets, the wait was 5 mins. We managed to get front row seats at Shrek 4-D Adventure. Besides having waterdrops splashed onto us, we also had wind blown onto our ears. The scariest part was when the spiders in the 4D show escaped, they sort of appeared like that they were on both my legs. While I don't really recommended the front rows especially if you have kids with you, I think a better choice will be 3-5 rows so that the screen will not be too near. Donkey LIVE is an ok show, more for the kids. Skip it if you have no time for it. We also sat a miniature ferries wheel Magic Potion Spin which is in Godmother’s potion Shop. This spin is really more for the kids.

We had lunch at Friar’s. Their generous servings of the potato chips were delicious and the chicken wrap was huge. Each Combo meal cost $ 8.80 and comes with a wrap, a drink and generous serving of potato chips. The kid’s meal even came with a lunch box. I would also recommend lunch at Goldlilocks for its fried chicken, fish & chips and chicken sandwiches.

At the LOST WORLD, we queued for a ride on Canopy Flyer and had Dino-Soarin rides, more meant for kids to pilot their Pteranodon, up and down into the clear blue sky.

I love Ancient Egypt!!! We were transferred into the ancient world just like in the show MUMMY. The ride Revenge of the Mummy has a height limit of 122cm. You have to lock your bags in the lockers for this ride. Such a thrill!!!! We were plunged into total darkness on this indoor roller coaster! My 8 yrs old girl never once opened her eyes. When we looked at the photos taken during the ride, you can only see our heads not our faces because more than ½ the time, our heads were hung low.

At Sci-Fi City, the 2 BIG RIDES – Battlestar Galactica – CYLON & Human were closed.

Next we sat on Accelerator that spin and whirl you round and round like the little tea cup that you sat when you were tiny….

Back to Lost World, we caught the show WaterWorld. I don't know what to say about this show. They had some fun bits where they splashed water on the audience. Other times, the effects on the bombs and “voices” did not really match….overall it was still a big show and they only showed it 4 times a day. Be sure to catch it.

We saved the best ride for the last…..At the LOST WORLD, Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure is 1 ride that you can get all soaked up! While it was not a MUST to have the raincoats…it depended very much on which side you were sitting when you went down the slide and there was no way to determine if when you pick your seat. So good luck…. We were facing downwards on the slides….poor guys…I practically saw water poured over the 3 of them (not us)…they were soaked through LOL.

Overall, the park was not big and with express passes, it still seemed everything was done in a rush…..We were practically running to the next ride after every ride. We only stopped for lunch for maybe 45mins.

A pity though....They do not have many characters on the streets for photo taking. I only saw kong fu panda, betty…then there’s some silly mummy guys and robots type walking on stiles….

Plenty of choices on your meals and no Q at the toilets…..I would even rate the rides as COOL……

Without express passes, the wait is about 25-70 mins, compared to the 5-10 mins wait. Express pass can only be used once per ride. It cannot be used again for the 2nd time.

Ticket to enter the park costs SGD66.00 which is quite frankly, a bit overpriced. I enjoyed the Revenge of the Mummy ride, which is their indoor roller coaster, because of its special effects and the short queue... which was around 15 minutes.

We had to wait for 45 minutes to an hour for the other rides, including the Canopy Ride which looked fun, and was fun... but lasted less than a minute! The other rides were okay... and some rides we didn't even try because it was too "kiddie".

The Waterworld show, which was advertised as spectacular and out of this world, was definitely NOT spectacular and NOT out of this world. I couldn't wait for it to end so that we could go to other shows worth going.

TIP: Bring an extra shirt. The walk toward the long queues of the rides will make you sweat... because the park is not fully airconditioned and there are few fans along the streets. Also, you will get wet or soaked (in my case) in the river something ride.
