We found this a good way to pass the morning after breakfast before spending the rest of the day at Universal Studios.
The walk from our hotel (RWS Festive Hotel) was easy as it was facilitated with escalators, and as it was early morning there were no crowds, no waiting to purchase tickets and no waiting to take a cable car - we even dawdled in the souvenir shop which you must pass through to access the cable cars.
We purchased return tickets from Sentosa to Mt. Faber and each way takes about 10 minutes and climbs quite high up offering great views of both Sentosa Island, Singapore's skyline and it's harbour and port areas. Though, we did find Mt. Faber quite boring.
The cable cars are modern with a narration / monitor presentation and fans and smoked glass all around to allow for the best possible views. It all felt very safe.
I'd advise those to give it a go once doing the return journey, especially if you have time to kill in the mornings whilst it's still relatively quiet.
